Soooooooooo. My girlfriend was on a flight from Hawaii.. was listening to music with her headphones. Woke up, head phones still in, phone is gone. Prolly dropped it, and it came disconnected. Phone is nowhere to be found.

She was sitting in first class, window seat, best friend sitting next to her. They searched everywhere. After everyone exited the plane, the crew searched everything. Someone has it.

So now what? She had the "find my phone" app, but it's not showing up on the map. Is there anything else we can do to hunt this down?

If I have to buy her a new phone, it means less beer monies. If she has to buy herself a new phone, it means less presents for cusetroop. Neither of these options make me happy.

Ideas?

Something similar happened to my daughter. If it was password protected, there should be no way to disable the "Find My Phone" app. Did she try calling the number to see if anyone answers? She should be prepared with what she would say under different circumstances. If it's an honest person, they would want to return it. If it is clearly a dishonest person, your GF should immediately go to her service provider. My daughter was told by AT&T they were able to permanently disable her phone IMEI number so that it can never be used again (this is different than just disabling a SIM card, which can be swapped out).
BTW, I believe Chuck Schumer was behind the legislation that allowed phone carriers to be able to do this.

Dump her and find a girl who doesn't lose stuff.

You don't have to buy your ex a new phone.

More presents for Cusetroop because the new one has more money because she doesn't lose stuff.

Win-Win

BTW, if she can afford to fly first class, she should be able to afford a new phone AND still have plenty left over for presents for Cusetroop...

Just sayin'

The phone is off, they tried to call it when they landed in Anchorage. (No her phone wasent on "airplane mode"... for some reason she refuses, idk.) so who ever has it shut if off once they foudn it.

if an honest person found it wouldnt they do the honest thing?

exactly.. I guess the flight attendants asked everyone on the plane if they saw it... that would be the time for the honest person to be like "whoa! this phone in my hand isnt mine!"

Never stop monitoring the find my phone. Eventually it will come on and when it does you will be able to recover it. (even if that means contacting the authorities and identifying the location) There's no way someone can ignore the print on the screen that says "i'm lost please call blah blah blah" if they deliberately ignore that, they are stealing from you and deserve the jakes knocking on their door.

I'm having a difficult time envisioning a scenario where someone sitting in the window seat in First Class, with her friend next to her, could have swiped her phone while she dozed.

I said the same thing. The only thing I can think of, is it fell out of her lap, came unplugged from the head phones, hit the floor, and must have rolled back a few rows? I can't imagine it sliding too far, it had a rubbery cover on it... idk man.. this chick isnt the brightest.

You can take steps to find your lost or stolen iPhone, iPad, iPod touch, or Mac if you've enabled Find My Mac and Find My iPhone apps. Using your Find My apps allows you to put your missing device in Lost Mode, see its location, or erase its data. Other than the Find My iPhone and Find My Mac apps, there is no other Apple service that finds, tracks, or otherwise flags your device for you.

Learn how to locate Apple product serial numbers.

www.icloud.com lock it from there when she logs in, when the phone turns back on "it will turn back on at some point" it will send you an alert to her email address and you'll be able to track where it is "it's accurate as hell".

Good luck man, losing phones suck.

im guessing its jammed in the seat. you dont get service from 35k feet.

either that or were all underestimating her and shes scamming you for a new phone.

They called it when they landed. And I guess the flight attendants, and grounds crew searched the seats, and the surrounding areas.

And she would be scamming the wrong guy lol. I'll get her a$$ a flip phone.

shes scamming you. Call her bluff

Come on, you know how chicks are these days.. can't go 5 minutes without a cell phone. Wouldnt be worth it to her to try a scam, when she could just get another phone. She has more of the monies then I do.

In all seriousness my son lost his phone (hes a dip s hit) . Anyways we tracked it and it didnt show up on the tracker either. It was password protected and we called verizon to turn off the service and kept tracking it to see if ever popped up and it didnt.

Tell her:

"Hey baby, I'm sorry you lost your iPhone 6, but perhaps I can interest you in the CuseTroop 6? IFYOUKNOWWHATIMEAN."

Hopefully the metric system isn't prevalent in Alaska.

1. You sure she wasn't listening to her iPod?

2. Pics or none of this happened.

You're welcome. Here to help.

Who is your service provider? Whenever I steal a phone I yank out the SIM card straightaway. Stops those pesky jerks with the find that 'Find my Phone' nonsense right in their tracks!
