Seems like people love talking him up, etc etc but I am not real impressed. Loss 2 games already this year where he blew double digit leads and kicked extra up 12 in 4th quarter...

He is getting obliterated by the media in Nashville. Kicking that extra point was idiotic... they're a couple bad breaks from being a top 10 team but those bad breaks have him moving to the hot seat.

His celebration was top notch cringe material

this year doesn't matter. next year they will contend for a national title.

if they lose more than 3 games next year, then he will be on the hot seat

Who has the two worst losses?

Tennessee blowing 13 point leads in the 4th quarter?

Or Texas with two once in a lifetime special teams blunders.

I think eventually both programs will figure out how to win those games but depressing times for two of the more rabid fanbases in the sport.

I didn't know if this year was suppose to be a big year or next year was the one they were banking on I know he has recruited well but he isn't helping his cause past few weeks. They have improved but not saying much after Dooley

why are coaches so scared of giving this responsibility to people with brains in their head. coaches can do what they're good at - paying parents and teaching sons how to break people. leave the math to regular people

I always considered Jones an average-at-best coach who rode on Brian Kelly's coat tails twice (CMU, Cincinnati) into cashing in on the Volunteers job. He's a good recruiter but I've never been impressed with his gameday coaching. Always thought he'd struggle in the SEC - and so far haven't been proven wrong.

Kind of the way I feel as well, sooner or later you have to win games? I just didn't know if he was feeling real pressure to WIN this year or will it be next, you can only ride the recruiting and potential so long... 3 years is a long time for SRC programs. 4 is win or out time

I think Butch is full of it as well, I doubt his record is much better than Dooley's at this point

They will be loaded next year but they will be starting a green QB and they have a knack for choking against the big boys. Not impressed withe their 4th quarter coaching in Butch's tenure. The natives in Knoxville are restless and pissed.

Im sure they are restless, because that fanbase is idiotic.

But 4 weeks ago that idiotic fan base were unanimous about next year being the year. 2 bonehead losses in basically a throwaway year shouldnt matter. They better be patient - or risk losing a lot more.

But as i said, if they arent competing for national title next year, i doubt he sees year 5.

Poetic justice for the 1998 game in the Dome.

from Butch Jones' wiki page

Coach Jones prefers a condescending style while speaking with the media anytime they question his failed in-game play calls. Also, known for never trusting charts.

I've seen two games in Knoxville vs SU and Florida. I think they have the best fan base in the country that I've seen. Idiotic is not how I would describe them.

I live in Atlanta. And I put them right up there with the a hole delusional fan bases with every other SEC school.

And case in point would be wanting to fire your coach 4 games into what they all referred to as a meaningless season a few weeks ago.

But to each its own.
