OT: LaFayette Hills Golf Course

Hey any of you mod's and admins think there's enough interest from us gollf nuts to add golf somewhere on this site? Also, would like to keep up with our womens b'ball team info, recruiting and insider stuff. I would think that there would be a lot of bargain memberships around, but to really get your $$$ worth out of one with so much value golf in this area (all of cny) its gotta be hard. By the way Turningstone has a little par three, executive course thats like $15 bucks (maybe less) w/cart...and you will use just about every club in your bag, and another smaller 9 both as beautifully upkept and handled as the big courses but more affordable. We really are somewhat spoiled here golf wise. I have several friends from different metro areas on the east coast. When they come to visit they bring their clubs and descend upon this place like rabid dogs:rolling:. The prices, the number of places, and above all what they pay...they are just amazed. Even our not very pretty but serviceable "cow pastures"... they'd get charged 5x or more what we pay. I was born and raised in Selkirk N.Y. outside of Albany. When I go home and play any capital district golf there's alittle bit of sticker shock in the sense that wherever go I'm thinking "sheeesh for this money back in cny I would be playing this caliber of course, or that one". And when they come here, its " this place is great. Do you know what we'd be paying back home"? But all that aside. I think in the next few we are gonna see several courses go down the drain. Probably become housing tracts.:(

Not really golf-related, but it is LaFayette Hills-related. My sister got married about a month ago. My father went to pick up his tux for the wedding and he got to talking to one of the people there. Apparently there was a wedding scheduled for LaFayette Hills that weekend, and they told them the week of the wedding that they were unable to host the reception because they were filing for bankruptcy. So this couple was left scrambling last-minute to find a reception venue. Talk about a nightmare.

The place has turned into a disaster. Great track but I wouldnt give them 2 nickels to play there now. Last time I played there was the district interclub 2 years ago and I swore I would never step foot on that place again.

Radisson also used to be great. Awesome layout but conditions are not even close to what they used to be. Plus the sand traps are the worst in CNY. Never was a big Erie Village fan. Crowned fairways and too many crazy bounces for my taste.

I joined Tuscarora last year and for the money and guys that they have there I am in heaven. Its a total blue collar private club. Conditions and greens were spectacular and I think I found my home for the next 40 years.

No more Camillus huh? That's where I got my start, once walked 72 carrying the bag there.

Nope I left there last year. It was time. No regrets. Much easier to walk too!

I have never played Camillus but I understand that it is a nice course

One of my best friends is the superintendent there. Worlds better than it was many years ago. Worth the trip for sure.
