OT - Marrone finding out why the Buffalo Bills have been a dumpster fire since the 90's

millen and joey harrington stunk

it would be weird for marrone and whaley to blame upper management for who they choose to be GM

the bills go 6-10 every year because that's the type of qb play they get. if whaley is right about manuel, then it won't matter who the assistant to the regional manager is

Just Millen and Harrington?

So I guess the string of QBs like Andre Ware, Rodney Peete, Erik Kramer, Scott Mitchell, Charlie Batch, Jon Kitna, Gus Ferrotte, Shaun Hill, Daunte Culpepper(10 years after Randy Moss), and Dan Orlovsky have been good choices? You can blame Millen for only a couple of those btw. Fact is upper management in Detroit, and in Buffalo can't/won't/don't know how to hire the right GM and coach. The Fords gave Millen an extension, are you kidding me??!?!?!?!?!?!?!

And I wasn't talking about the Assistant Regional Manager, I'm talking about the owners. You know the guys who hired Whaley and Marrone? The same guys who hired the rest of your crappy coaches who drafted your crappy QBs. The top level of management can't get the right guys to run your team. If you refuse to believe that is where the problem rests then you deserve your misery. At least Detroit Fans know it's the Fords who are everything up

manuel and tuel were their call
It's certainly not out of the realm of possibility that Marrone and Whaley wanted to keep Tarvaris Jackson around as insurance in case Kolb or someone else went down but were denied by Littman and Overdorf. Then when Kolb got injured they were all caught with their pants down.

I'm not one of those the QB is all that matters and the other 21 players on the field are completely irrelevant type of guys. But to each their own.

if lewis wasn't obviously better, I'd buy the kolb or jackson argument maybe

qb isn't all that matters but it's a prerequisite.

What does Lewis have to do with it? My hypothetical above exhibits the reality that front office decisions can have an adverse trickle-down effect on a team's productivity and handicap the GM and head coach.

he went with Tuel over lewis to start. he wasn't stuck with tuel, he chose him

That had more to do with determining the odds of Tuel being plucked from the PS was greater than the odds of Lewis being taken. And considering no one took Lewis while he was on PS it can't be proven that they were wrong about that.

I don't know. There's kind of a lot of evidence supporting the QB thing.

that's exhibit z in my case for the people vs stupid brain damaged meathead

who the hell cares about losing jeff tuel from your practice squad?

of all the dumb things for him to be concerning himself with

Marrone has input I'm sure, but he is not in charge of who is placed on the 53-man roster. Which brings us back to the original topic...

That's true. If you want to miss the playoffs.
I find it difficult to believe that that's really what you think. All I know is that if I really thought that one single player is all that mattered out of 22 on a football field then it would never be a sport I'd be interested in. I mean, what would be the point?

you really think that someone other than marrone and whaley decided where Tuel fell on the depth chart?

Maybe, maybe not. I don't know. For years football people from outside of the organization have commented how inept the franchise is and many have debated how much power Littman and Overdorf have over the team. I'm tired of it, quite frankly.

Pretty much everybody agrees that the Bills have been stuck in their ways for far too long, but because it's Marrone saying it, the hate just pours in here. Let it go. Shaffer is shaping up to be a very good coach as well, and our football program isn't suffering without Marrone.

I think he did a very nice job for the most part in his first NFL season. And for the record, I think EJ Manuel exceeded expectations. He wasn't expected to step in and be a starting QB right away, but he did, and while the results were up and down, I think he showed enough to make you believe that he's worth developing.
