Nebraska announces former Oregon St HC Mike Riley as its new HC.
My god Nebraska I feel for you. Riley is a solid HC but he is not that much of an upgrade from Bo Pelini.
Scott Shafer?I wonder if Shafer was on Nebraska's radar?
I always thought Riley was a good coach but the fanbase around here was delusional, I have heard Tressel's name about 100 times this week and to fire a guy who won 9 games every season to bring in what feels like to me the Coach P of the Pac 12 (Won some big games, made a few big bowls but struggled at the end) is so damn funny.
I just found out Riley's buy out was only like 500K? How much was Saint Doug's at the end?
that was one of the funnier posts in a whileScott Shafer?
Does Western Michigan have a HC job opening? If so I am scared about Shafer remaining here.I wonder if Shafer was on Nebraska's radar?

Hmmm, middle of nowhere with humidity or middle of nowhere with wind and cold? I guess he prefers humidity.

It would be somewhat lateral, but I think it's more of a northern move, hence the cold.If Bielema went to Nebraska from Arkansas, that would be a lateral move. It would be far easier to win in the B1G than the SEC, but still. Piggg Sooie.
I commented earlier this thread but I still can't believe this. I can't believe that Nebraska hired a coach that is under 500 in his career in the Pac 12. Like I said earlier, I think Riley is a solid coach, but I just expected something much more. I really have to wonder what the Nebraska fanbase thinks about this. I think I can imagine.
Yeah I'm really floored by this one. Granted Pellini has some behavioral quirks but the guy wins 9 games every year. But then again, they did this to Frank Solich too.
I get that Nebraska wants to be a national title contender, but how is Riley the guy that's going to get them there? It's not like they ditched Pellini for Saban or Urban Meyer or someone with that pedigree.
