OT: Mike Riley to Nebraska per Nebraska

They were impressed by his 14-34 NFL head coaching record.

Yeah I'm really stumped with this one. At least it wasn't GRob, there's always that.

Hmmm, middle of nowhere with humidity or middle of nowhere with wind and cold? I guess he prefers humidity.
Middle of nowhere in the dirtiest conference, where you can get away with shenanigans in your program, vs. middle of nowhere where the standards are a bit higher.

If Bielema went to Nebraska from Arkansas, that would be a lateral move. It would be far easier to win in the B1G than the SEC, but still. Piggg Sooie.

Tough to keep moving around. Plus he's doing some good things at Arkansas. Not surprised he wants to stay put. Especially after breaking through with the LSU and Ole Miss beat downs.

This one is almost as strange as hiring Adam to coach the OL

Bielema left Wisconsin for Arkansas. Wisconsin/Nebraska right now are on the same level. If Michigan calls Bielema I would wonder if he would go. Michigan is a top 10 job.

Oregon State should troll Nebraska and hire Pelini.

You say that, but it's true. Pelini is a way better coach than Riley. At the very least HE'S NOT 61 YEARS OLD.

There must be some connection with the AD or the direction Nebraska wants to go. Possible Riley has an assistant Nebraska wants to take over for Riley as well. Didn't Riley turn down USC before?

Riley turned down USC around 1998 when they fired Paul Hackett.

This decision is mystifying as Riley is solid but they fired Pelini because 9-3 wasn't good enough and Riley is 61 and only has 1 10 win season in 13 years and he played 14 games(extra game with Hawaii on the schedule) to win 10 games.
Riley is a 8-4/9-3 coach who is older than Pelini.

I thought so, thanks.

I wonder if his style of play and that is what the Huskers are interested in thus making them a different team in the Big 10? Plus recruiting will be better as well.

Have to think the relationship with Pelini was a bigger reason for the breakup then the results on the field. From everything i've read on the twitter Riley is a guy who won't rock the boat with the admin.
