Hey Gang - I come to you with some more big news. Before I go into that, thanks to everyone who has reached out and continue to reach out. Surgery will be towards the end of this month and I am staying upbeat/positive! A lot of the people on this board have been a reason for this. Many, many thanks.

Now, let's have story time. Many people know that some nerve damage took contact sports (along with the ability to play football away from me). The one sport that I had always played and was told I could keep playing, was tennis. Now, there are not too many 290 pound tennis players out there, which made me quite the scene to watch. After walking onto the tennis team at Keuka College during my time there, I was pushed by coaches to take control of my weight, and ended up becoming a very good tennis player for the Keuka Wolfpack (what used to be the Keuka Storm) - evidence being in this article here: Roe setting records at Keuka. Tennis and football have always been passions in my life, along with motivating student athletes.

With tennis being a big part of my life, I thought about getting back into the "swing" of things and coaching tennis. Some opportunities came about, and I am really proud to say that I have was offered and accepted a job as the Head Men's & Women's Tennis Coach at Earlham College in Richmond, Indiana. I'm really excited to enter the collegiate ranks as a coach and I am PUMPED to start getting in front of recruits and selling them on coming to play for me. It's a great opportunity and I am excited to be moving from Raleigh to Richmond. I just wanted to keep the family here informed, as it's great to hear about accomplishments. If any of you have children, family members, or neighbors that excel in the classroom and on the tennis courts, hit me up. Would love to chat with you. Now comes the fun part in finding some real estate in Indiana! Exciting times coming. This is the exact reason why you don't hang your head when you get bad/unfortunate news. You may end up missing on an opportunity that you never expected. I'll post the press release as soon as the EC athletic website posts it! Thanks again for all the support!

Congratulations. Many of the original settlers of that region of Indiana came from North Carolina, so you are re-opening a long dormant trail.

Best of luck!

wish the best!!!if there are any lakes in that state (rivers , but be careful) absolutely buy on the water. try to buy on a "power boat lake" check out lakehouse.com

Let's see Indiana, that would be West of the Hudson - in other words, The Frontier!
Congrats man, you're on your way. We'll have something to celebrate on Wednesday - we're buying.

Congrats...you'll soon learn that Carmel, IN is where you'll want to recruit...along with trips back to Fayetteville, NY during FB season.

My daughter goes to Earlham. It's a GREAT school in the Quaker tradition. A fantastic faculty, rigorous academics, and a mission of instilling its graduates with the ability to make a real difference in people's lives.

I love everything about Earlham...except Richmond, Indiana. Although you must check out Ghyslain.

Here's some more about Earlham.

My wife and I will be headed out there for our daughter's graduation this May. I hope we get to meet you.

Congratulations!!!

Mrs Crusty keeps quoting the lines in Bridget Jones about how sad it is to lose Mark Darcy to the US. I keep telling her that analogy is a bit over the top but...

Good luck Jack. You have to do what is right for you and your family. Make sure you buy a snow shovel, I am sure you will need it.

Awesome to hear. Please make sure you reach out. Would love to meet you!

Justin will you be coaching the girls in the Fall and boys in the Spring?

Also, I imagine a swing to upstate NY versus Keuka, Elmira, etc...

Yes. Men's in the spring and Women's in the fall. We have a trip to California planned with the Men's team in March. I'll be creating a schedule for the women's soon for the fall 2015 season - and I am definitely going to try and get to New York. With the Women's team needing more of a rebuild, I think I could manage a nice little swing through New York that would be a nice challenge for the women's team.

Congratulations! I'm an avid tennis player as well. 4.5/5.0 here. I play USTA league year round. Let me know when you are in Houston and want to hit.

That's great news. You're a winner on and off the court. Positive Orange vibes your way for later this month. Be well.

You know the Earlham Tennis players are Googling this guy and coming up with a gold mine. They are probably figuring out a road trip to Upstate NY is in their future...
