I am beyond thankful for the seasoning I got doing the drive from Delaware to Syr a million times over the 11 years I went to school and worked up there + the ice/snow experience in town.
As others have pointed out, the situation in Atlanta is absolutely insane. I left work (downtown) at 2:30. After 7 hours of harrowing driving (12 miles), I met my match a mere two miles from home...but instead of spinning out or crashing into the guard rail or other cars like everyone else, i was able to navigate to a shopping center lot. From there I could walk to a friend's house where I stayed last night until I could walk the final two miles home this morning. I guaran-damn-tee that if I hadn't been through crappy driving boot camp, I would have been done.
I'm frustrated by the completely unnecessary nature of it all, but certainly reflective about all the positives today!
