Thats what they're saying. That Noel will sit out the enitre season to basically work on his game. Not entirely due to his current injury. This sounds really weird. I mean I knew he was a one dimensional player but is his game so bad that they think he can learn more practicing than playing? This will be interesting to see how it plays out. MCW is going to have a rough year with this roster. Is Noel already the next Greg Oden/Sam Bowie?

If only there were a place where young men could go and learn the game and maybe a little something about life and how to be men and better people as well. With people there to teach them and guide them through the process.

There is such a place. In fact there are many of them all across the country. They are 4 year colleges and universities.

Apologies to Orangeyes, I should know better by now to go to his articles first before I hit Yahoo for news!

As upset as I get for every Flyers and Eagles loss, that's how I will feel when the Sixers win. They're being set up to fail...now it's up to them to go do their job! Then fold in their pick, Nola's pick AND Noel next year. That's also a low salary and attractive cast to bring a legit FA. This is the most excited I've been about them in decades.

As a long time Sixers fan, old enough to remember the 9-73ers, I was hoping Noel could play 20-25 games this year. I keep repeating to myself. "they have a plan, they have a plan", but this is painful. I am very convcerned about how MCW will react to 70+ losses.

I don't think the Oden/Bowie comparison is correct, at least I hope not.

They are openly trying to tank the season earlier than any team ever. They want Wiggins and that's that. They'll be shutting guys down for any injury longer than needed and will be trying new rotations all year.

You have to either be bottoming out or be at the top of the league when you are an NBA team. They are taking that strategy to new levels.

I wonder if he regrets letting his handler make the UK decision.

Sure tank the season to get Wiggins in the draft. But with the NBA's idiotic ping pong ball lottery that frequently has the worst team picking 4th, it's a big gamble.

To much talent in the nba these days not enough teams.

Stern needs to grow some balls add another 32 nba teams over 5 years and cut the amount of games down to like 50. Have 2 divisions with one division not playing the other until the playoffs to make things exciting. Forget history its time to move on. There are to many good american players in the nbadl that nobody gives a crap about and to many good overseas players coming in these days. Thats one of the beauty's of basketball the potential to have 4 times as many teams unlike football. College ball brings better rivalries, surprises, and mathups you never see coming as well as no unimportant games. Not to mention the level of talent in the nba, adding more teams would only make the superstars even more dominant making the game more fun to watch. In college ball every win or loss is taken to heart and is more then just buisness.
I understand money ruining some things, but not basketball its art. Stern needs to wake up and outplay money, media, and precrowing champions. If the lakers, celtics and heat don't like all those extra teams to bad deal with it.

This is a great move by Philly. They need to lose. Wiggins is not the only goal. They want to make sure they get a very high pick, as there are tons of quality players in this draft. Noel will still practice and learn. MCW will take his lumps.

They will draft Wiggins or whoever to go with those two and i guess Evan Turner and Thaddeus Young. In three years it could be a potent combo, or it could be setting themselves up for a decade more of losing.

If the Sixers go 0-82, I believe they only have a 25% chance of the first pick, correct me if I am wrong. So it may be Parker or Randle, maybe the kid from Arizona.

Maybe they should go with the European soccer model with different levels, teams being relegated/promoted.

but theres nothing like watching a powerhouse beat up on a cupcake either.

That's why they have the open cups (tournaments) between the different levels that also feature the occasional upset.

I think it's very difficult for the worst team to pick worse than second. But yeah, this a total tank job move by Philly. They also owe a protected pick to the Pelicans, so this will help with that even if they don't get Wiggins.

But they could be hilariously bad this year

Just like when Jordan drafted Kwame Brown out of high school. The kid was one dimensional, had ZERO work ethic, and got fat stats against high school kids. He was no where near ready to play NBA ball.

Sooner or later Calipari is going to end up with flame outs in the NBA, and his rotation system will fail. There simply won't be enough roster spots for the revolving door to continue en masse. If 6 UK kids come out every freaking year, eventually the available spots will dry up. They aren't going to kick veterans to the curb to grab up some 6th man on UK. Soon, like in 5 years, you'll see more doing D-League or Europe. Heck, he might be gone and UK on probation by then.

This is backwards. they GET a Pelicans pick that's protected if top 6, I think. So we want Philly to get 1st and Nola to get 7th picks.

Hmm, that makes a lot more sense. Holliday is much more proven than Noel. So forget I said anything. I'm an idiot.
