Last week it was announced that Northwestern's Venric Mark had been suspended for the first two games of the season, meaning that the Wildcats would be without their most dynamic playmaker to start 2014. Now they'll be without him all year, as the school announced Wednesday evening that Mark was transferring.

The school says Mark is transferring for personal reasons, as he wants to play football closer to his family.

Mark was a one man wrecking crew against us in 2012: 82 rushing yds, 14 receiving yds and 1 TD, 168 return yards and 1 TD.

Family is in Texas. Imagine him at Baylor with Petty?

I am a Baylor alumnus and fan and have not heard of any interest. Will report if I hear otherwise.

I still have nightmare of Venric mark having his way with us

I thought I saw something about him possibly being suspended at Northwestern for some type of violations

Leaving Northwestern - a great institution - for West Texas A&M??

This guy needs to re-consider his priorities.

You mean like prioritizing his family over football?

No.

I mean remaining at one of the finest institutions of higher learning in the world - affording him and his family opportunities that could provide growth and support for lifetimes.

The decision to go to Texas to a lower division school - I presume to play right away - tells me that he has placed football above his family.

I certainly don't have all the facts. But that's what the move tells me.

He says he still plans to graduate from Northwestern. He's only one class shy and plans to finish it up according to one article I read.
