OT- Ohriakhi transferring from UConn

Time for Tyler Olander to shine.
Their big men next year (assuming Drummond leaves as well) will be Olander, Enosch Wolf and Michael Bradley.

I hope our big guys can handle that...

Whoa, we better hope Noel commits to combat that group of Goliaths.

Where's that UConn troll that assured this was all BS?

They also got booted from XL center in Hartford. All their games next year will be at their on campus gym that sits 7 people.

Good riddance to irrelevance UCONN.

I don't think I'm who you were referring to, but I think I have been called a troll here before, though I usually try not to be.

Apparently even Alex's mom and UConn is unaware of this:

Per Gavin Keefe:

#UConn source says Oriakhi considering his options with possible tourney ban but far from transferring at this point.

Looks like the academic progress rules will have the desired effect.
You get banned from the tourney...all your good players leave.
It will work until schools figure a way around it...perhaps with "special" education.
Like the old SU course "The Physics of Toys."

Oriakhi is the only player that can transfer without the 1 year wait period. Just FYI. Though if he transfers in May and then the NCAA says say in June UConn is eligible (using updated data or granting the appeal, neither of which are close to likely, but in theory), he has to sit out a year. Very odd situation.

time to dust off an old chestnut . . . a Top Ten list from the old Dave Letterman show when UNLV was still wearing the black hat:

Top Ten Courses Taken by UNLV Basketball Players:

10. Investing your illegal recruiting money wisely
9. NBA team mascots: Are they real animals?
8. Naming the Presidents since Kennedy
7. The hydraulic principles of a keg
6. Your ass from a hole in the ground: a comparative study
5. The college classroom: a simulation
4. Nudie paintings from the olden days
3. Copying off the exam of the Asian guy in front of you
2. How to spell Tarkanian
1. How to choose the best free car.

Doesn't that create a vicious circle? Your players leave early so you your APR stinks so you are banned from the tournament so your players leave...

It's hard to believe someone college educated thought this up.

from a sports perspective, I thought UConn was a natural for one of the last 2 ACC spots. The academic issues could not have come at a worse time for them.

Drummond is likely gone for the draft, as is Lamb. Imagine if either Boatright or Napier also declare early. Their lineup is going to be terrible. Even if they both stay, it's likely Boatright, incoming freshman Omar Calhoun, Roscoe Smith, Tyler Olander, and Michael Bradley. With Napier, Giffey, Daniels, and Wolf off the bench. What a train wreck.

Do they not have any decent recruits for 2012/2013?

They have a SG who's a top 60 player; but after the APR/Calhoun stuff he hasn't promised taht he's still going there.

Thanks. Sucks to be them... a little bit maybe... na >

So much for any loyalty to a school/program/coaching staff where you've spent 3 years and won a national championship. Would we feel betrayed if that were one of ours?
