I'm reading a book by Harry Dolan named Don't turn around. There has been two kids
killed and a young woman has disappeared. But the person looking in to it has learned
that the woman who may know more and may be hiding the woman goes to Syracuse
every weekend. I don't know who they are she is told but I know the place they go.
It's a place called Faegan's. Talk about a kick

Dolan is from Rome, NY and went to Colgate.

There were, of course, no interesting bars to write about in Hamilton. ;)

i read a book a week. Love the flynn, Clancy, thor, greaney genre
I joke that I am not interested in what I am reading. I am interested in what I am reading next

my 16 year old daughter just went to Faegan's.
Like, she walked by outside. It's an upperclassmen bar.

Those are all great.

Im guessing you know Lee Child (Jack Reacher)

Also, check out Ben Coes (Dewey Andreas)

I liked the MD authored techno scientific murder mystery books by authors like Robin Cook. Michael Palmer, Michael Crichton etc.

One of my favorites--John D. McDonald (grew up in Utica, degree from SU). Probably best known for the Travis McGee series, but prolific well beyond. He wrote Cape Fear, twice made into a movie, the second time with De Niro as a truly menacing, creepy character.

If you want an intro, my favorite of the McGee series is "The Green Ripper" written in 1979, and previewing the age of terrorism. It won the 1980 National Book Award.

I loved Crichton books. I used to read his books and the Grisham novels during my summers in college. Hollywood did these authors no favors in some respects, especially Crichton. Congo and Sphere were mockeries of the books. And I preferred Grisham’s book ending to The Firm way more than the movie.

I need to get back into reading more. I went on a true crime and history tangent before life became hectic with the kids. Never got back into it.
