If by "lingering stigma", you means bowl restrictions that can impact recruiting, I agree. I doubt that very many coaches would avoid PSU over some ethical concerns - the biggest issue is they've been passed over by half the Big 10 - but have a fanbase that expects them to still compete with Ohio State every year for a championship.

B. O'B has a really long leash - but is almost certain to end up like Tedford/Ferentz if he stays at PSU. Meaning if he has NFL aspirations, he needs to go NOW.

Two guys who I think would be considered for the job would just as problematic on the recruiting front, Al Golden and IROC aka monkey face aka Alfred e Newman aka Shady

I am beginning to think that Golden is/ was a bit overrated as a football coach
