Lots of discussion here about the Dome experience versus other locations. Thought I would share my own experience and yes it involves UVM hoops so if that bothers you look away. Big game last night at UVM - playoffs have started for their conference tournament. Interesting thing about that is all of the games, raffles, and silly stuff they do is done for the year. Which is why at the last home game the announcer for those things, a student, indicated he was done (senior I'm assuming). So despite missing out on the silly stuff and the fact the students are actually on their spring break, there was still a ton of support for the team. And yes, the school band played nearly every time out.

The other nice part about living in a small town is that you are likely to get spotted in the paper if the angle of the camera is just right. That's my kid in the upper right corner with his buddy. I'm in there as well but that's not important.

I love going to the Dome for games, but agree the experience could be better. I don't have the magic fix though.

I went to a Georgetown game last year. Too big of an arena for a mid-major that draws flies.

Nearly outnumbered by Elon alums at home.

UVM Hoops...

:vomit:

I was there in '05 and Sorrentine hit that shot right in front of me...

Long, long, long drive home that night.

Still scarred.

Games in small arenas are lots of fun, but UVM, always and forever.

I didn't want to bring this up, but since you mentioned it, he's going to be on the radio up here this afternoon to discuss that shot.

In case anyone wants to listen -

Also, Germain Mopa Njila followed me out of the building last night after the game. Heard someone joking with him about the on-going remembrance they are doing up here to celebrate that night 10 years ago.

I went to the LIU Brooklyn home game last week against cross-borough rival St. Francis. About 1,200 people in the gym despite zero student support. It was a lot of fun. We sat there the whole time in the 4th row thinking that it was a little weird we were still watching Division I basketball when we're so used to the Dome.

That's why despite loving the Dome, I still enjoy seeing the smaller on-campus ACC arenas like Cassell, Conte, JPJ and the Pete.
