"Florida State University was put on lockdown and secured early Thursday after a gunman opened fire in a campus library and was then killed by the police. A Tallahassee Police Department spokesman said at a news briefing that three people were being treated for gunshot wounds.
When the university learned about the active gunman, school officials issued a “dangerous situation” advisory through a campuswide telephone alert system. The advisory urged students and faculty to shelter in a nearby building. The alert provided no other details.
After wounding three people, the armed suspect was found by university law enforcement officers near Stozier Library, at the heart of the campus, where students had been studying.
“He was challenged by those officers to drop his weapon,” said David Northway, a spokesman for the Tallahassee Police Department. Instead, the gunman fired a shot toward university police officers, who shot back and killed him."

Are the SU DPS employees armed? Just curious.

Clearly what we need to do is start arming all librarians.
