Comments about Bobby Lazer and Chuck Gillette got me wondering - has STAC produced any guys that went on to high level D1 hoops recently? When I was growing up, guys going to big programs was common (Sonny Spera, Sean Kerins, King Rice…I know I’m missing a few more). I don’t live in the area so maybe I’m just out of the loop, but I am not aware of any guys in the last decade or so.
That was an area which was pretty reliable for Syracuse to recruit, but doesn’t seem like basketball is played at a very high level anymore.
PS - I’d love to see a match-up of the Spera/Kerins U-E team vs Rice’s Binghamton team. Binghamton won the state title, but I think U-E was actually the better team.
