OT: Steph Curry

OT: I think Anythony Davis is going to end his career with better stats than anybody in the league right now. More titles? idk, but he's dominant.

If you took Lebron off the Cavs they still have JR Smith, Shumpert, Love, Kyrie, Mozgov, Thompson etc... Still a pretty solid team, especially in the East. Take Curry off Golden State and they are nowhere close to the top spot in the West.

Lebron had his reign, it's Steph Curry's time. Dude does things I have to rewind 5x to fully comprehend what just happened.

It jumped out at me that not one of those guys played in the playoffs last year. Love and Kyrie never made the playoffs before this year, and these would be your stars. Smith and Shumpert made next to zero impact for the Knicks this year or last year. They are role players along for the ride...they can help a team, but they aren't going to be the guys making much of an impact or difference on the bottom line.

Love and Kyrie are not role players.

JR Smith and Mozgov are above average role players.

I think Lebron is currently experiencing what MJ experienced in the 90s... MVP voter fatigue. Voters got tired of giving Jordan the MVP award every single year, so they occasionally took a break and gave it to Barkley or Malone.

In reality, Lebron should probably be MVP every single year.

Unrelated, but it's probably absurd that Kobe only one 1 MVP award, and Steve Nash won two.

I was talking about Smith and Shumpert as role players. The only thing that changed for them is they got traded to a better team. They're still the same guys who had little impact on the Knicks bottom line.

Love and Kyrie are good, but were career losers before getting on Lebron's team.

Curry is the best player on the best team, and I think he will win MVP and is very deserving. He's great and to me is the most fun player to watch in years.

But franchise-wise, Lebron is still the most valuable guy to build around.

Personally, In perfectly fine with Nash having more MVPs than Kobe. You could argue there was only like one year or maybe no years that Kobe was the best player in the league. Nash wasn't either IMO but he basically created a new era in the NBA and his impact on those Suns teams were incredible.

Shaq only won 1 too, even though he could've won it every year of the Lakers 3 peat(you knew nobody could beat them because Shaq could seemingly get 35 and 15 whenever needed).

I agree on Lebron. The Cavs naturally got off to a slow start with all the changes, then had some injuries. But look at where they are now. Lebron has definitely reached "take it for granted" stage, and also other players have really stepped up. This is the first year in awhile where there are a good 5 guys who have all had very deserving MVP caliber seasons.

I think you could make a reasonable argument that Kobe was the best player in the league from about 2003-2007ish, after Shaq started his decline and before Lebron emerged as the league's alpha dog.

Kobe, Duncan, and Garnett were the big 3 for awhile.

Not sure if I have the timing right for those years, but I feel like that may have been around the time that I personally felt TMac was better than Kobe.

Yeah that was probably like 2002-2003 where that was an argument for a couple of years. McGrady in Orlando for those first couple of years was great, and he was right there with Kobe.

After awhile McGrady went a little overboard with shooting too many 3's and his FG %'s dropped from like 45-46% to 41-42%, then he went to Houston and started getting hurt a lot. He was pretty much done at like 28-29 and out of the league at 32. Crazy for a guy as good as he was.

I agree that Shaq having just one MVP is a lot crazier to me than Kobe having 1. The 2 Nash MVP years were...interesting.

100% correct. But before that Shaq carried the load. Didn't realize he only won 1. He should have won in 1998 when he took Orlando deep.

I'll just put this here from 6 years ago.

I remember thinking that was an all time great PG class at the time. I was so pumped that Milwaukee got Jennings though I really wanted Curry (and Rubio, but there was no chance he was going to make it to Milwaukee's pick).
