OT: Students at high school suspended for tebowing.

I love the idea of people claiming to be Christians sending hate mail to high school administrators. Who would Jesus send hate mail to?

God forbid they were Tebowing. Cant they just do drugs, bully some nerds and get free condoms from the nurse like all the other kids? What is this world coming to?

The context of this story is wrong - they weren't suspended for Tebowing, they were suspended for being a bunch of jerkoffs blocking the hallway between classes. The method of their disruption is pretty irrelevant to the story (or at least would be in a sane world).

Tebow has brought out the worst in people. Sad.

The second tebow is removed as QB (no clue when that'll be), I will cheer vehemently against Denver in every game they play. I have no idea why it just seems like a good idea

Christians are not protected by the First Amendment I guess. God will forgive them but I think the School Officials are a bunch of a$$es.

Did you read the article? They were suspended for blocking the hallway. The fact that it was kneeling (which Christians do not have a monopoly on, BTW) in imitation of an NFL star is the only reason ESPN even picked up on it. This is not religious persecution. Man, for being a majority in this country, Christians sure are sensitive sometimes.

As was pointed out ... there was no connection of the students "tebowing" and the purpose of Tebows actions in the enzone ... they were just being smart a$$es ... the problems arose when following these idiots other kids began doing it during the passing of classes causing a potentially dangerous situation. 3 of them were previously warned and told they were creating a dangerous situation and they persisted. They were suspended ... I guess one's suspension was rescinded b/c he had not been previously warned. Don't confuse these kids' behaviors with anything Christian.

LOL, I think its hysterical some of you are actually defending the schools reasoning of this creating a hazardous, riot inducing situation...A RIOT, lmao seriously. Like the kids said, they thought they might get detention, but a suspension!? Best believe if they were doing some kind of "Occupy" movement or they were Muslim praying towards Mecca blocking the hallway, the school admins would have cheered their courage.

As a sidenote, I swear some of you get off trying to point out hypocrisy in Christians.

Dude this is how it works. Building administrators approach a group of students doing something unusual in the hallway. "Timmy, Tommy, Joey, that's cute. Please clear the hallway so kids can get by." Douchebag kids respond, "but we're Tebowing." Administrator responds, "I can see that, very nice, now move so people can get to class." Douchebag kids, "what about our first amendment rights (smirking)." 20 kids have now backed up behind them. Administrator says "seriously, get up now or I am writing you up." Douchebag kids dont respond. "That's it, I am writing you up." Douchebag kids, "what did we do."

Douchebag kids then go home to there douchebag parents (you know, the helicopter types that raised them to be the douchebags they are) and tell them they were praying in school and got suspended by the threatening, unfair assistant principal. Although parents are suspicious because their kids are either Jewish or have never been to church a day in their lives, douchebag lawyer is called, who then calls douchebag media after threatening calls to Principal, Superintendent and Board of Ed members have no effect. Then, sensational douchebaggy ESPN and other equally douchebaggy media outlets run the story.

Did I spell douchebag correctly?

Damn bro, I live in Long Island, 30 min from Riverhead and even im not privy to the apparant behind the scenes knowledge you have. Thats some enlightening insight. Thank you for sharing your nonsensical rant based on idiotic speculation. We all learned nothing from you and are dumber for reading it. I bet you thought you were real clever when you were writing that post, right, you did, didnt you? Yeaaaa, fail.

BTW, ESPN was one of the last media outlets to pick up on this. It was all over every Long Island news outlet the night it happened and Yahoo broke the story nationally.

I like that justice was served swift and stiff.

Why is it that it has become alright for subordinates to disobey or ignore the edicts of superiors?

School administrators told students they couldn't do something that was disruptive and served no legitimate purpose. They do it anyway, multiple times, and people are criticizing the school administration for taking punitive action. This is why our schools suck. Too many people allow their kids to treat authority as though its optional to obey it and immediately jump to the defense of the disobeying kid against the authority figure rather than actually having their kids take responsibility for their indiscretions.

Bro, unless you were standing in that hallway as the kids were doing it, are one of the kids or parents, or are one of the administrators, I can guarantee you I have more insight into this incident then you do, even if I dont live on Long Island. The majority of the time, these situations play out exactly like that.

Well, the Jesus pic is appropriate since you are apparantly "all-knowing"

According to the article I read, the students weren't even told to stop before they were punished. If true, that sort of blows some of the above scenarios out of the water, wouldn't you say?

I would have suspended them, too. Not because I have anything against Christians, but because 'Tebowing' is ing stupid.

1-day suspension for being 'ing stupid' ... I'd make an awesome principal.

Being in a high school everyday I can assure you having 40 kids block a hall for even 30 seconds will create problems. The kid said he looked up to Tebow as a role model and thats fine. Causing commotion in school is not. If it happened three days in a row I will bet that the kids were warned to stop doing it before they were suspended

Having been in schools for 30+ years I will support the administration in every way. For people who are saying that they have the right (Christian or otherwise) read the reports!! Most of the kids who were suspended were warned and asked to "chill". They persisted and were subsequently suspended. Another kid (or 2) who did not receive initial warnings had their suspension dropped. There is nothing wrong with "Tebowing" as long as its not creating a potentially dangerous or chaotic situation. You don't go blocking halls during class pass time!! If you want to "Tebow" go outside; go to the auditorium; go into the bathroom. Don't be a$$holes and punks that think they can spit in the eye of authority and then weasel out of it with their parents ... telling them that they are being Christians. Hey, even they were fed to the lions. You have every right to express yourself ... it''s how you do it; it's when you do it. And if you choose to express yourself despite warnings, etc. then be willing to accept the consequences.
