OT : the premature Bills + St Doug thread

Another great post.

60 minute game.
Did you miss the part where they were shutout in the first half by a bad D and only managed on TD again against a bad defense? The Bills O is nothing short of terrible and offense is supposedly St Doug's strength given that you know he was the Saints OC and all that. Schwartz and the D are saving Marrone's job just like Shafer's D did here the first two years.

The O has to play better or there is zero chance at the playoffs.

dominant win by the bills, sweet first post buddy
First post? Try 685 with this one which seems to be more than your post count.

Any Bills fan would admit the offense is terrible... That really didn't change today.

One good outcome of todays win. It shuts down Stern. A minor miracle in itself.

I am not a Bills fan, but I follow them a bit now because our guys coach them.

HCDM has done a good job and is a QB away from having a good team capable of making it to the playoffs. It looks as if he has secured his job and Hackett is going nowhere.

He is doing exactly what he did for us. He has a very good eye for talent and if they listen to him they will be just fine.

All Marrone's done is taken a marginally talented team to 7-5 and a half game out of the Wild Card. He's really terrible, should totally be fired, IMO.

Doug is going to do the same thing with Orton that he did with Brees and Nassib.

Crock. That's just something people say to justify whatever he wanted to do. Had he kicked you would've said the same thing in the same dumb way

And you know that how. At least I'm not some dolt who obsesses about punts and simpleminded rubrics to make decisions. I said last week when they went for it against the Jets it was a mistake. This week it was an easy call given time, place, and score.

You defended the 4 pt fg fifteen yrs ago, when you like a coach you go to the wall

Four point FG, still nonsense. There was 6 minutes left in that game. More BS myths from you.

And at least I can understand context and performance and don't see the world through a "they all suck" set of blinders.

It's easy to spew venom at everyone. Doesn't really take a whole lot of thought.

I get why you do it.

Better than the crap the Bills have put on the field in the past two decades.

You prove my point. Going for it today was good because of the time (plenty left) Kicking then was good was because there was 6 min left (plenty in your strange opinion). Whatever you heroes do is always the right thing to do with whatever time was on the clock

Confidence in making the FG went into both decisions, so it's not quite as simple as want to make it, again.

He was being sarcastic in a lame attempt to say DM is good.
It's actually remarkably similar to the team exactly 10yrs ago when a loaded defense & great special teams carried a crappy offense & a supposedly offensive minded coach to 9 wins. There's even a few controversial calls and the token "how on earth did we lose that home game" thrown in for good measure (opening day Jacksonville was this year's KC).
Actually that team was quite a bit better (they didn't have any 'Bears/Lions' lucky wins...)

At least we won't be losing to backups in week 17 this yr, so there's that.

Aye Yah bad attempt.

because Mike Shafer was so money and Dan Carpenter is so bad

Gotta give Hackett some credit that 4th down play action pass to the new TE Gray was a thing of beauty. Biggest issue I see is obviously the offense and I think it comes back to a few things.

Fred Jackson is a beast and one of my favorite Bills of all time but its hard to rely on him as the #1 rb at this point in his career. He doesnt have that burst anymore and you worry about him getting injured taking a big hit. Would like to see more usage for Bryce Brown he has that speed and ability to break some a la Spiller.

Orton's accuracy has tanked since his first few games. At least 3-4 passes that would have been easily completed were either way to short or way to high over the receivers heads. Still think hes the better option over Manuel but you can certainly see his limitations and why hes bounced around so much.

The Bills offense still needs more weapons. I like the fact they added Gray and hope to see them add another TE and a WR in the draft this year because this team still needs weapons offensively. Woods and Watkins are a great start but Hogan and Goodwin (can never stay healthy) aren't a great 3 and 4 combo and Mike Williams can't be active for game days apparently.

Need to somehow win one of the two upcoming games, the KC and Houston games really hurt now becaue there is no margain of error at this point. Even if things go as planned (8-8), it will still be nice to at least not have a losing record for once.

Also I wouldn't be a Bills fan if I didnt lament the fact that the Bills are finally in a position to make the playoffs after a decade plus and the last four games has to be the hardest remaining schedule in the league save for maybe San Diego. Typical Bills luck.

my Kingdom for the Bills season...

because Mike Shafer was so money and Dan Carpenter is so bad

I think I heard yesterday that Carpenter wasn't 100%, hence not even considering the 54yd FG.

I have the Giants in one of my leagues. I figured they would be able to hold the Jacksonville Jaguars offensive juggernaut in check but...

In one league - the one with "big" money ($100/12 teams vs. $50/10 teams) - started off 5-0 and 6-1. Am now 6-6 and needed to win this week. Even with a 5 game losing streak I still have the 2nd most points in the league for the season! Picked up the Miami defense because Jets. Of course I have Minnesota and their 28+ points sitting on my bench. I could theoretically win, but down 10 and they still have one player and I have Miami.

I hate fantasy football and am miserable.

At least in the other league I'm about to finish up 9-3-1 and wrapped up a playoff spot 3 weeks ago and now have a bye.

whatever the reason was for him making the right decision, I'm thrilled. next time he makes some gut decision, this one will be in that memory.

I'm surprised it's taken this long to point this out, but in what world is Cleveland a bad defense? They're top 10 in almost all of the important defensive categories. 7th in yards per play, 4th in 3rd down %, 1st in INTs, 9th in points allowed... they struggle against the run but they've been very good defensively. Only 2 teams have scored more on them this year than Buffalo did yesterday.
