Who was the first Big East player to win an NBA championship?

Dickie Simpkins? I know it was a long time before a Big East player was on a championship team.

I'll say Bill Wennington wasn't he on some of the original Bulls Championship teams.

Leo Rautins? I forgot what year he graduated, so I could be off a season. He was drafted by Philly and Philly won in 1983.

That is an extremely good guess, but incorrect. Rautins was drafted by Philly right after the Sixers won the 83 title.

This is a total shot in the dark, but was Rafael Addison on the end of the bench on either of those Piston teams?

I want to say Marty Byrnes, but technically I do not believe he played in the "Big East". His last game was in '78, the WKU meltdown. Then he was the 11th man for the '79-80 Rookie Magic Lakers.

Ed Pinckney with Boston would predate Bill I think. Wennington drifted around a bit , Dallas I believe, before he landed in Chicago.

I'm not sure it's Otis since he didn't win one until the 90's with Houston. You would think there had to be at least one before that. However, not really trivia, but Otis Thorpe and Patrick Ewing were born on the same exact date: 8/5/1962. I happen to share the same birthday, but a couple years before them.
