I'm going to the Army-Buffalo (NY state's other college team) game tomorrow. I have the option of entering either the Washington or Thayer gate. Which one is the less hassle. (I will be approaching WP from the north.)

Thanks in advance.

IIRC the Washington Gate is the "northern" gate and Thayer is the "southern" gate. It may not be pretty at either one since they're the only ways in and out.

Check out my tailgate guide on Army...go through the military only gate (you're a retiree right?)

Jealous.

Knew you would come through, Mark. I overlooked the obvious (again). Been through your site previously but I guessed I missed mention of the military gate. I knew that retiree card would come in handy again!

Mucho gracias, señor!

Awesome...the info is several years old so send me anything that is obviously wrong after you get back.

Update: got to Poughkeepsie around 4:30--checked into Holiday
Inn Express (very impressed with the service and room, by the way). Became a CIA agent by taking my wife to the real CIA--the Culinary Institute of America--5 miles up the road. (My bribe for dragging her to the game.). Honestly, I have paid almost twice the price for at many restaurants for less than half the service, food quality, ambience, etc--in other words--it was fantastic!

If my day at WP is half as good as the past few hours, I will consider myself a lucky, happy man.

Once you get on West Point: Ask the cadets anything. They are very helpful. They'll assume you are a retired Colonel LOL Don't refer to the Dorms as Dorms...they like to say Barracks. AF Cadets live in Dorms though.

Go to Trophy Point get a picture of u and wifey. Get your Army gear at the PX. The Commissary is next door. Go to Grant Hall for a a pregame drink. Enjoy the day...finally, get out of the car and just walk the post.

Got Army gear! No self-respecting Army guy/gal would ever ever live in a friggin' dorm! :);):)

#3 with a Coke---love it!

Reminds me of what my AF retiree cousin would ask: "What's the first thing they build at a new AF base? ...The officers' club, of course!"

I thought it was the golf course?
