Place is falling apart. No luxury suites. If you’re hungry you have to pray your wife has a granola bar in her purse. One restroom. Rome really needs replace this place. It’s almost as bad as Jacksonville’s stadium.

cool as can be that place. Hopefully you did the "underneath" tour. Kid you not I have a Cuse nome pic or two from there we took with it strategically placed overlooking things. Will see if I can find them.

As for the worst stadium I've ever been to it was ND in 1990. Spruced up since but still sucks, as does most the campus with its shocking commuter school look. Other than visiting the (surprising) hell hole that Augusta Georgia is and driving into the masters off the equivalent of a run down erie blvd, these two represent the two biggest negative surprises of my life. This after building up them to legend status in my young mind based off PR and tv hype as a kid, only to find out the reality was quite different!

Regardless of all that, enjoy your time in one of the most amazing places in the world!

Cuse football nome in Pompei, taking in the Amalfi coast, and, of course, having a drink at bar Vitelli from the Godfather! Lol

Which by the way don’t miss that last one (Savoca, nearly a spiritual experience for this 100% Italian with Sicilian roots right there, favorite movie has always been the godfather!).

Assume you're with your family, but if you're just there with your wife, there's a restaurant Aroma that overlooks the Coliseum from the roof of a hotel across the street. Really awesome experience. Great food, too.

We were there with my kids and parents (last week). It was the first time out of the country except for Canada for all of them.

My kids favorite restaurant in Italy was the McDonalds near Trevi Fountain. I wish I was joking.

We're major foodies so I appreciate that recommendation. We went to Glam in Venice which was a Top 5 restaurant I've ever been to.

If you ever go back give La Taverna dei Quaranta a try. It was a short walk to the Coliseum and was awesome traditional Italian.

good choice. Even though it's my heritage is Rome, south, Sicily etc. they treat americans differently and worse was our experience than the northern cities past and north of Rome. Much better experience

I was in Bologna last year, which is pretty anti American being a huge university city, and everyone was really lovely for the most part. I find Europeans who hate Americans to be rather adorable. Like "aww, you think you matter to me? Here's a nickel." But I've really found rude Euros to be few and far between. Even in France.

My wife and I spent a few days in Sorrento and found everyone to be very engaging and friendly. We also had no problems with the people in Rome. But, we almost never stay in the touristy areas. We stayed in a boutique inn on above a lemon grove atop via Capo and rented an apartment in Trastevere in Rome.
We followed the same pattern of getting an apartment in residential neighborhoods in London and Amsterdam, eating in local restaurants and bars and talking with the residents.
We also like to be low-profile tourists, which seems to play well with the natives.
