I guess I have been convinced that "other offers" is a good way of analyzing a recruit's value.
A few days ago I reviewed our classes over the years just to see what "other offers" had been made.
I was surprised to see that our 2003 class - the one that followed the awful 2002 season - had a number of players with solid other offers.
Jameel McClain - Michigan State, Wisconison, WVU
Marcus Clayton - North Carolina, Tennesee, L'ville
Reggie McCoy - Pitt, UConn
Eric Ball - Penn State, Michigan State, BC, Iowa
Jeremy Sellers - Louisville
Breyone Evans - Michigan State, Wisconsin
Kevin Osifchin - Pitt, Wisconsin
Vincenzo Giruzzi - Maryland
And there were other recruits with no listed other offers - Tanard Jackson, Lee Williams, Tony Jenkins, and Steve Franklin.
In retrospect, not a bad class, right?
Of course things don't turn out all the time. Kevin Osifchin decided not to attend school. I don't recall what happened with Eric Ball or Reggie McCoy.
