What was that. Kaleb deserved some run tonight based on what we saw from Mike and Trevor.

Be curious to see how cooneys shooting numbers are compared to Deshaun Williams, bet their almost identical game to game with the streakiness

5th year seniors are at their respective schools for that long for a reason.

Kudos to them both for all they've done, but you aren't talking about the Splash Brothers here.

If they had elite talent, they would have been in the league by now.

It's just not missed shots, that happens to anyone. I loved that shot G took when were down by 2 -- it was a fastbreak where Pitt had 3 guys back and G was alone, he took a 17 foot jumper with a dude in his face and air balled it. He literally could get that shot whenever he wanted. Just not smart basketball.

I think we may agree.

I definitely agree with what you just posted.

I'm saying that he isn't a great basketball player at this level. Neither is Cooney. They will make bad plays and it stinks, but we'll have to deal with it.

G is a complete head case at times. You can literally see him start to shrink some games. We were down by 6/7 points with a good 3-4 minutes left in the game and he decides now is the time to start unleashing deep contested 2's..a shot that should never be taken...and a shot he himself doesnt hardly ever take. Id rather have them just launch threes and pray than shoot these stupid contested 2's early in the clock.

Just not enough basketball awareness between the two. Tons of bad contested shots, fadeaways. Gbinije masks that when the ball goes in, but when he can't beat his man to the hoop or make a jumper, it gets ugly.

Worst shot of the game.

Just made the same comment in another thread. Plain and simply a head scratcher!!!

This whole thread is only about their offense. Let's not even get started on their defense, especially Cooney's. It's like he doesn't think people will shoot as long as he's within 5 arms length of them.

Yeah, I was really expecting to see JB unleash Joseph when the game was tied with about 7 minutes to go. No imagination that guy. Joseph and Howard might have gotten it done.

cooney may have shot poorly and made some questionable plays on defense, but he was like rodman on the glass

your post made me curious so i looked it up. they are virtually identical as 3 point shooters - williams 336 and cooney 338 for their career. williams is a marginally better 2 point shooter though they both suck. williams also averages more points, rbs, assists, and steals per minute played by a reasonably significant margin. Williams did turn the ball over at a mind numbing rate though, and to my knowledge cooney hasn't b..ged G's significant other or knocked out Otto.

Deshaun was a far superior talent but he had major issues...

the difference is that cooney was supposed to be some dead eye shot maker. he wasnt brought in here to shoot a lower percentage than lydon from 3.

hey i'm not a fan of calling any players out in the pressers but give me a break. equal treatment at least.
i might just be that jb thinks roberson will respond to it and doesn't think it would work with cooney. which sort of makes sense - roberson needs to be giving us energy so a little kick in the pants might help. Cooney needs to be making shots, which nothing can really help.

Cooney seems like a great kid. Represents SU well, works hard, and has had some big games for us.

That said, unlike a lot of the kids we lose to the NBA or graduation, I don't envision myself saying "wow we miss trevor!". In fact I guarantee I won't be.

Everyone here knows about Cooney. Kid would be great as a dude off the bench who can come in, play hard nosed D, hit 3's, hustle, play 18-20 min, etc. But the fact that we need him to produce for 37mpg kills us.

I really want to see Kaleb for at least 5-7mpg at this point. He can't be worse than some of the lapses we've seen with TC and G

cooney always does his best. unfortunately if JB had the sense to recruit a real pg or center/fwd trevor would be buried 3 deep behind both malachi and (g). both who are natural 2's. he simply is not/ never was as great as the minutes he eats.
