This is what really boggles my mind. After getting burned by Davis and Nerlens it's almost like JB doesn't want to put up a fight for recruits anymore. Just look at the guys we have got recently. Very rarely are we in a long drawn out battle. Ennis, and KJ we put the full court press on leaving little doubt. Guys like Malachai, Lydon, Moyer, Grant, and Roberson we locked up early. We fought for Coleman because we knew we'd win. Then there are guys like Chino, Ron, BJ, where you wonder why we took a chance when said guys were still available.
If you think about it we really haven't even missed on many guys other than Bryant where we actually stayed in the battle throughout the process. I'm not sure if it's lack of will, arrogance thinking that he can win with the guys he finds that fit his style, or whatever else, but I really think we are doing ourselves a disservice not going after some of these top guys. We have a nationally recognized tradition, a home court everyone knows and wants to play in front of 20k a night, strong academics, some of the best if not the best facilities in the country, and a strong winning tradition that spans decades. I mean it should be pretty easy to recruit to that. I'd like to see JB be much more aggressive when it comes to recruiting the top talent.
