If Chris continues to improve and sustains a level of aggressive play, our front court will be one of the best in the country come Feb/March. We just need consistency and solid play from our guards and they have to keep dumping it down low. Rak and Chris can win us a lot of games if utilized correctly. We just need to win as many as possible early in the season and most importantly continue to improve every day and every game. Good win!

Roberson needs a lot of work. Can rebound, but he looks uncomfortable out there, esp on offense. He'll improve, and that's a big key to a potentially great front line.

Roberson definitely needs a lot of work but in college bball when you have two frontcourt players who have the ability to go get a double double every night, you can win a lot of games. I feel like Roberson is just inside his own head, he is a great athlete but he fumbles the ball almost every touch and that is just having confidence in his ability. It will come with time, hopefully.

Rak was getting the ball lower in the mid/low post today then he did against California, my biggest worry is days where he can't.

He was forced against Cal to try to get position once he already had the ball because the guards couldn't get it down to him in good spots. A lot of Rak's shots last night were off the dribble. The key is our guards getting good angles and making crisp passes to him. That is a great point you make though, he needs to get it deep to be the most effective.

hopefully this game forces JB to rethink his plan of playing mccullough at center. total disaster.

You need to quit the hyperbole. Two guys don't make a Top 10 frontcourt. And while I love Rak he's not that amazing.

Disagree. Rak is one of the best defensive player in the nation and looks poised to be a double digit scorer consistently. If we could get him to average between 10 and 15 along with 8 or so rebounds? That'd be amazing. I think he's capable.

If our guards are capable of getting them the ball in good positions it is certainly a top 10 front court in the country, thats my opinion. We have two guys who can average 15 and 8 to 10 rebs a game.

Why recruit Chino if he doesn't bring anything? We are a better program than that.

Just because he isn't bringing anything to us now doesn't mean he wont eventually. When I made my original statement I meant with our starters, we obviously lack depth in the frontcourt which is a concern.

Not only that, but every time he's playing there you risk him picking up needless fouls. It is probably worth it to stick Obokoh in just for that reason alone. The fact is that Obokoh probably doesn't represent that much of a step down offensively from Roberson. Playing CMac at center is costly in my mind: in addition to the in-game fouling risk mentioned above, you also have a lose-lose decision to make: either you harm the defense like we have seen, or you use vital practice time to get him better prepped to play D at center - this takes away from him getting better at playing the wing in zone.

This team needs the depth Oboko can give them. Rak is flirting with a team disaster with picking up 3 fouls in the first halves.
Think of it, Rak, the centerpiece of our team. It kind of is an amazing story if it continues.

A tragic imperfection of this team

Yeah, he seems to be in too much of a hurry - very jumpy when the touches the ball. He has to slow down a bit, otherwise, it's going to be an up and down year for TRob.

Probably because of Thomas Bryant. He's a project - we take a chance on big men every once in a while. Dash was somewhat similar.

His biggest contribution to SU could be boosting our APR at this rate.:noidea:

All I know is that if Rak gets into foul trouble against Duke, UNC or Ville, McCullough at center cannot be the answer.

I love Rak and what he's shown so far --- when we go against Harrell and Okafor is when we see how ready Rak is. I believe the dude can absolutely be a go-to scorer and one of the best bigs in the country.

Harrell and Okafor are at 2 different levels, one of which being size. I don't think of Rak in the same convo as those two guys.

I said this when we recruited him and thought I was going to get lynched.

I'm not getting Roberson at all so far...he looks like a completely different player than his mins last year
