Our non-conference opponents may not be from 'power' conferences

GT beating GA thru 3 QTRs
Yeah and really looking like the better team. But Georgia has looked amazing or pedestrian at turns this year. Still, they’re one of the most talented and best supported teams in the country. Great win for Tech if they can get it. That team has had a good year.

Yet we couldn’t beat Stanford at home coming off a bye week.

Stanford is impossible to figure out. Beats Louisville and loses to San Jose St. Looking back at that loss gives me a tick.
They absolutely blew their games against Cal and San Jose State

...but they are 31-15.

Ohio U. is 9-3
UNLV is 9-2 and ranked #22 (writers) #21 (coaches)
Holy Cross is 6-6
Connecticut is 7-4

We beat all of them and are 8-3.
UNLV wins today and they are competing for the Mountain West title

Ohio is in the MAC title game

UConn likely a winner today too

Could end up beating 10 win teams if we beat Miami today and Ohio and UNLV handle their business in coming weeks.

Is it possible that one reason they have such good records is because they're not from power conferences?

Sure, but they weren't 'cupcakes'. No Wagners among them.
