We've got 4 guys right now with 50 or more catches.

Pena - 71
Meeks - 59
Gadsden - 54
Allen - 50

Pena is already on it at this point in the season, but it's possible that all 4 could crack our top 10 single season reception list during the same season. Gadsden's 2022 with 61 is currently 10th on the list. Might be a stretch for LeQuint to hit that but with 3 games left it's not completely crazy.

We were close to that in 2016 with 4 guys at 48+ catches.

#1 was +23 in 2 more games
#2 was +31 in 2 more games

So they were a lot higher, but...

#3 was -6 in 2 more games
#4 was -2 in 2 more games

As a group the Top 4 in 2016 is +46 in 2 more games. So this year's guys would need 23 a game to match them. Since they average 23.4 per game, there is a decent chance that they pull it off.

We do need to take into account that only 11 games were played before the 2000s. Then again we did not throw the ball as much back then.

It is interesting that our current leader in yards is only at 810 yards with 2 games to go. At that pace it would be below 1000 and below our 2022 leader in yards. At the same time it would be 9th all time.

It is actually insane that AET had 1482 yards in 12 games. Our current leader would need 672 yards vs Miami to catch him.

And the leading receiver yesterday isn’t on this list.

I’ve been following Cuse really closely for 15 years, and this is the first time there’s ever been an ability to spread the ball around.
15 years? I thought you were much older.

Yeah, the increase in games is definitely a factor, and we've been slower as a program to adapt passing offense heavily.

But this is a really crazy year. We have 3 guys having top ten total reception seasons, in the same season! And LQAjr isn't far behind either.

Kyle had over 330 in the first half, I figured he might reach 550 or so, 470 is pretty insane as is
300 per game. set the record and we got another game to go... Shameful Ohio St lost out this year and good for us all around too with Fran and the talent we still will retain, got this year, seen them in action, and next year will be better.

4000 yards passing after what we have seen recently is crazy. All due respect to Shrader who was the ultimate gamer but even when healthy not a good passer

Very true, I blame some things on Baber's on this. Shrader could take those hits, but he took more than he needed to do, and then moved more than he needed too... Ironically during UCONN... I Was almost wishing we had Shrader, wide open field on several plays... but we got some great oline blocking now and I'm so happy McCord hadn't been hit like Shrader did too. AND I was screaming slide and he must have heard me when he tried to make that play at UCONN running... And our Fran plays/offensive rushers/passers/te's are great. FYI, Shrader family/parents/friends great bunch of peeps. Their own tailgate was across the lot... Had a great convo with them for an hour or two at one of TexanMark great away games a few years ago. I think it was WakeForest. And it was colder there than I think it will be at Miami next week here.
