"Fighting Sioux" is somehow a nickname that has spawned litigation and a threatened NCAA ban.

Playing a song that uses the term "darkies" in front of 24,000 people before they cheer on a majority minority basketball team is not only accepted, but spoken of glowingly two times by Rece Davis during a national telecast.

Simple. The NBA forced the age/school requirement on schools, and some NCAA coaches/schools saw an opportunity. What would the NCAA possibly do about it? Can you argue with Cal's success since the rule took effect?
