Thomas' group is about to start up with the 40 on camera 2 after the break.

They keep pushing it back. Maybe 11:30 now.

40 time will make or break him. Apperently he's got huge mits for hands.

You wouldn't think so after the Rutgers game this year. Still, best of luck to Phillip. SU has had decent success recently with DBs in the NFL (Anthony Smith, Steve Gregory, Tanard Jackson).

Tiller didn't do himself any favors with his performance. Really wasn't good in anything. The bench was rather startling.

Having the hands and having hand eye coordination are 2 entirely different beasts. That drop was glaring but my educated guess is he was already staring at the goal line and thinking about his TD celebration on that drop.

Phil up in 5 mins or less for the 40. Some real good times already. 4.44 is the 10th best so far. Kid from CFU with a 4.31.

Phil with a 4.72. Ouch.

Garcia said he was really slow off the blocks. Second 40 should be much better.

I'm watching it live and he was definitely slow out of the blocks.

2nd: 4.59

horrible again. All over the track as the announcer pointed out.

he runs stiff. someone needs to teach him how to run because his technique is whacked.

That's not very good. I thought Phil had a shot at going 5th-7th but now I have doubts.

Not real good. Of 46 players he only beat about 7 of them. 4-5 others also had 14 so about 34 guys had more.
What does being able to bench 225 pounds multiple times have to do with being a good CB? This drill is way overblown

It's important if teams play a lot of press coverage and rely on jamming receivers, but it's definitely not the most important thing for DBs. The bench is pretty overrated across the board, IMO.

i don't know. you'll have to ask the nfl who puts them through it.

I wouldnt think that the bench would count as much for a db wr than it would for say the OL DL. If i was phil i would say his 40 time is his biggest problem

I would guess that upper body strength plays a big part in jamming WR's, and in shedding blockers. Not an expert, so IMO only.

They ought to time them from a standing start. Using blocks is not that natural for someone who doesn't practice it.
