People are hammering Frazier for this, but do we know the protocol on bowl lobbying? My sense of Gross is that he's working the phone, but maybe he had already talked with the ACC before the game. It doesn't seem like a stretch for them to say that it will be a challenge to fit us into an ACC tie in game, especially when Clemson loses to South Carolina like they always seem to.
"What we assume is that we'll get placed in one of those other bowls that are an at-large bowl that one of the other conferences could not fill," Frazier said. "That's what we believe will happen at this point. The conference is diligently working to secure one of those spots from us and we'll go from there."
This was in Chris Carlson's column "the most likely options for Syracuse as the Beef O’Brady’s Bowl in Tampa (Fla.), the Little Caesar’s Bowl in Detroit, the Pinstripe Bowl in New York, the Heart of Dallas Bowl in Dallas and the Poinsettia Bowl in San Diego."

I hope that SU isn't simply relying on the ACC to lobby for them as Frazier implied in his comments in this morning's paper. Gross, Frazier and crew should be working their asses off to get SU into the best possible spot.
Shafer and the team deserve to have the folks in the SUAD earning their money by working on this, and not leaving everything in the hands of the league.
