Palm's Latest Bracket (updated after the Oregon game)

Although Temple didn't help your argument yesterday since UConn spanked them

SYRACUSE: Record: 19-13 | RPI: 71 | Strength of schedule: 42

Status: On the fence

Syracuse is 13-12 against the top 200 and has a loss to St. John's, which is below 200. No team has received an at-large bid where its total losses equaled or exceeded its top 200 wins.

Bye bye Temple

Palm rips apart every bubble team in that article -- and to me Wichita State and Syracuse have the least offensive marks against them

Still a little misleading. We played a lot of top 20 teams on the road (Miami, UVA, UNC, Louisville). They are part of the "200" that just don't appear on mid major resumes. The stat is so broad it basically has no meaning.

Or, the tragedy already happened. I don't think we are in. In Massey ratings we dropped from 44 to 46. If we went from 44 to 42 maybe we had a chance. I doubt very much we are in at this point.

I predicted this would be a bubble team from the beginning of the season. And there was a point where I thought they would be in. But man, losing so many games at the end of the season. Losing to Pitt 3 times was a killer. This is not enough to get in.

There's always next year! All disappointments are happy fuel being stored up for when something really good happens.
um, Dave you might wanna take a break from this one

why is the Massey thing so important in your estimation? It has Michigan, USC, Oregon state, Monmouth all behind us, so I dont see it was all that bad. Puts us right where we thought we were..barely in or barely out.
and some of those ratings Massey uses have not even had us in the top 100. As much as I dislike him, I will stay with Kenpom.

Agreed. I've never even heard of such a stat before. Definitely a stat that attempts to level the playing field with mid majors.

Can I sum up all threads from the past few days? This way, we can all agree. Only two possibilities left:
  • Either we will be the luckiest sons of beehives selected in the history of the tournament or
  • We will be the unluckiest sons of beehives not selected in the history of the tournament

They don't - it's part of their resume.

How does the committee ignore that Temple only had 8 wins vs. teams with an RPI better than 200? That's a ridiculous number.

Cuz the bottom of their league stunk and they played several tough OOC games.

howd they do in those OOC games?
man, Long Beach St should get an at large!

Easy to harp on one aspect but I love how people breeze right past the 4-0 against UConn and Cinci while finishing well ahead of both in the league. Amazing. Essentially you're saying league play is meaningless. If SU were in that spot and got hosed with seeding compared to the other two you'd be barking at the moon.

A bit of advice: Expect to be in the N IT allow yourself to be pleasantly surprised if we make the Big Dance instead.

It beats worrying about it or developing a sense of entitlement so you can be angry when we get "snubbed".

I'd actually be more nervous if we'd beaten Pitt and I thought we were 'in' but wasn't 100% sure.

too bad that league is garbage, he11 just ask the yukoners.
I could list off other teams in crap leagues that "dominated" the league - we should make sure all those teams get in too, right?
You just aren't able to grasp the concept of entire body of work November-now

You are the person that keeps harping on 1 thing. Their resume as a whole is completely subpar but you keep saying "well, they finished ahead of them in the standings!" They get credit for beating UConn and Cincy because those wins are on their resume. The committee has said they don't look at conference affiliation. You've been defending the A10 and Temple to a fault -- we get it, you like Philly.

UConn beat them by 17 yesterday....YOu can't ignore that either

Crap league but somehow Yukon and Cinci were deigned to be in 48 hours ago.

If you're being honest, it is a crap league. Their best teams have been in the bubble talk for a couple weeks. Their best team will also be a 9 or 10 seed. That's not a good league.

Wanna bet on that? Neither SJU or Dayton will be anything lower than 8.

Who's saying they're a great league? I just said they're in the tournament easily. To say they're on the bubble is just stoopid.

Even if it's an 8, that's the definition of a crap league.

Nice obfuscation. Who said it was a great league. Stay on topic. You're the one that said SJU was a bubble team before today's game. C'mon man. That's nuts.

You say a 9. I'll give you 5 to 1 odds on whatever you want to bet that SJU will be seeded higher than 9.
