Paschal Chukwu OUT

That sucks. A few years back I sustained a detached retina from blunt trauma. Surgery ensued and I had to have continued follow-up every couple of weeks or so for a while. Only main residual I currently experience is floaters, however, due to the trauma, ensuing surgery, etc., I'm at a higher risk for Angle Recession Glaucoma.

I'd imagine that PC will be out for a while as it's critical that he stays away from any contact in order to achieve optimal recovery and avoid any potential complications.

i may need a double oedipal retina procedure myself after that stinker.

So we're down to eight players.

They didn't want to play Battke today because he wasn't cleared until yesterday.

So we essentially had seven today.

Sad.

Dammit, I was busy with other stuff and wanted to break that, but you beat me to it. I finished watching the JB presser and was going to post about it. Other than that, it was a rather boring and uneventful presser, not very like the epic 15 minute presser recently.

I'm an eye surgeon in a group practice with a busy retina specialist. I'd be fairly shocked if he plays again this year (this is the same injury Amare Stoudamire dealt with years back). Long story short, if the central retina was still attached at the time of repair, there's reason to believe that he'll return to good vision in that eye. However, it's pretty common to develop a cataract after retina surgery and this could easily start a spiral that makes it more challenging to play basketball. Hoping the best for Paschal. The only scenario where he could be back in weeks would be if he only had a retinal tear without detachment, and what they are calling a surgery was just a laser procedure (retinopexy), but it doesn't sound like it:-(

I hope he gets healthy, but it doesn't really matter from a basketball standpoint because he will never play significant minutes here.
