Paterno family statement

His kid coached there.
I know that, but I doubt they would have discussed this situation with a lowly TE coach. I would assume based on everything I read that they tried to bury this quickly. I don't believe that means everyone opening their mouth and discussing with assistant coaches.

I'm not saying you are wrong but why do you think that? I would have guessed the boys are trying to make Sue feel as though Joe was upstanding.

The fact that Sue tried to try to intervene with the since fired female disciplinary office makes me think she thinks perhaps she was more important than she was/is.

That woman (Tripony?) I think just took a job with the NCAA.

What are the odds that she returns to Penn State as part of the NCAA's compliance program?

The Paterno family is nuts! They make the Lohan's and the Jackson's seem somewhat normal!

Hope they spend Joe's pension money quick, cause they ain't gonna have it long when the laundry list of civil suits begin.

Someone should tell the Paternos to start keeping diaries or something. Just stop making asinine statements every day, it's ridiculous.

It's worse than asinine. By choosing the word "defame" they stuck their finger into the eyes of all the victims. Scumbags.

In reality probably zero.

They have no civil liability. There is no proof the Joe would have civil liability, it would be very tenuous to prove.

Still doesn't mean people won't try and the Paterno's will be paying lawyer fee's up the ying-yang

I'm not so sure they would have known anything. The accusations keep flying around like we're in 1690's Salem, MA. Let the fact present themselves before you point the finger at JoePa's family as being guilty.. JoePa is the predator by coverup.. he didn't commit the crime himself, so there may not have been any signs and thus implication of his family is extremely premature.

His son was an assistant coach, wasn't he? And wasn't there an assistant who left the program and talked about how uncomfortable he was that the Penn State staff all used to shower together after practices?

They think that they've got grounds to sue the media. They happen to be nuts. But let 'em go ahead and drag this stuff out for years. They will be the stake through the heart of the Penn State program, burying it even deeper than the sanctions by keeping this alive in court for the next few years. (Let's hope, anyway.)

Honestly it does the plantiff's no good to go lawsuit crazy take what the university is offering and disappear lest anyone question your intentions.

That's a sick statement. Their intention should be clear, get as much money as possible out of the guilty parties for taking their childhood away. Take it and disappear? Really?

My take in this is that the problem is Sue Paterno and the boys are doing this for mom.

I'm sure you are right. But the best thing the family could do for Sue Paterno right about now is to take her, themselves and the grandchildren on a two-month tour of Italy or...anyplace else that doesn't give a s%$# about American college football.

Yes. Totally agree with the statements. They just keep going and going like the Everready bunny. If they just shut up, maybe showed some level of remorse, then they might get some of the things and the respect back way down the line. Right now Penn St. has to take down the statue. That is not to say that if the Paterno family would , that at some point, it might have been placed someplace in the University with a lot less prominence than where it was now. And Sue, who wants to continue using facilities there, might have been allowed to do so. But they are just making fools of themselves, keeping the attention on them, so anything the University might have allowed them to do, to keep some sort of standing in that community will never happen, because they keep the spotlight on themselves. How stupid and arrogant are they? How blind are they to what JoePa did by keeping his eyes turned and his mouth quiet. That is not to say he was not a good football coach. That is not to say that they donated more money to that university and educational purposes than any other individual. But hello, you need to keep quiet and lay low. It is a travesty and slap to the face of the victims everytime Jay Paterno opens his mouth in defense of his father.

they should just give the family the statue, send them of to columbian jungle before Itake away the statue and melt it down to plaques telling the story of jerry's ans joe's little secret to the steps of penis stadium

I wonder how bad they misspelled Emmert's name... I love that instead of just grabbing another piece of cardboard they rocked the computer paper lol

I know this isn't a popular opinion, but I try to think if it was my Dad who was a hero to millions and then accused of hiding a pedo and endangering countless children. Everyone can say quickly, but maybe think about how tough it would be to not stand up for your Dad or spouse with all of this going on. Obviously they should not be talking at all and I bet as more time goes on their statements will change.

I get that. Man was fired, died, then had his name and reputation totally trashed - forever. The point is, someone has to have the balls to tell them, "Time to ".

I hear what your saying and it easy to say this being outside the forest but most things in the public eye of this caliber are best left with out a response. You could be honest and give a 100% accurate statement and with eveyone picking it apart look guilty. In their situation it looks unremorseful. They need to take their lumps as things unfold regardless of the truth. JoePa was the face of Penn St football for years. He is tied to this to a fault.

That is plausible and I don't know the whole story. I truely am confused by the Paterno family stance publicly. The sad part is I don't think anything they say matters at this point.
