Having had the opportunity to see Pearl play is the most valuable college basketball experience I have had in my lifetime. As the article points out it was not only Pearls otherworldly handle and the planet's greatest ever crossover but it was also that in happened at a time when College Basketball and the Big East phenomena was exploding in popularity. One thing that seemingly never gets pointed out enough is the fact that in spite of Pearl's incredible talent, he was a very humble and caring person who seemed to touch everyone around him. As far as High School and College players go... I don't think there was ever anyone more charismatic and as impactful as the Pearl. For me he is the embodiment of everything special with Syracuse Basketball and my love of the program and the game can be directly traced back to Pearl.
