Here is what cracks me up. Everybody to include the NCAA talk about this "culture" thing. They talk about football becoming "too big" at Penn State. It is hypocritical for them to make statements about it. The NCAA is a business. They are out to make money, just like any other business. They just came up with a 4 team playoff that will generate millions of more dollars. Syracuse would love to have a culture where we pack the dome every game, but we do not. I am not condoning the behavior of some fans, but it would not be much different if the Fine allegations were true and people at Syracuse were accused of a coverup. Then, people would be saying the Syracuse Basketball Culture was out of control.

I believe the NCAA had to take serious action and they did. I also believe the "culture" thing is a joke. Look at other college towns that pack 100,000 people in the stadium every home game. The fans and the team make the culture, and in the Penn State case, they had nothing to do with the crimes that occurred.

That being said, I live one hour from State College. I am in the middle of Penn State country. I used to enjoy when Penn State lost a game. I will still enjoy them not being a top 25 team, but this culture thing is a joke.

You have to ask...seriously? We're talking about young boys being raped here. Proven in a court of law beyond a reasonable doubt. Meanwhile the cult members continue to cry foul, threaten law suits and genuinely behave tastelessly. Nothing wrong in Happy Valley.

Don't underestimate the state pride that PSU invokes. As soon as the penalties are over they'll rise again.

I don't see it. Ivan Maisel did a breakdown and they can't be good again till 2020 at the earliest. And when they do get back to full strength it will take another 2 years to get those kids to be juniors and seniors and be dependable players, and they ain't gonna be recruiting top kids like before. Being in the basement of the Big 10 for a bunch of years isn't going to make PSU attractive to recruits. NOT TO MENTION, who the hell knows if Bill O'Brien will be a good head coach! He could be the next GROB for all anyone knows.

PSU will be a mess for a decade plus. There isn't no "rise again" on the horizon anytime soon.

I know what happened there. I am talking about this "culture" the people speak of. I agree about the people that will endlessly defend and cry could. I am talking about this culture that most colleges take pride in. I am in no way defending what has happened. It is terrible. I am saying that most say that Penn State Football was too big. What does that mean? I think that they should have lynched the monster and turned him in. There is a lot of information that I think is right, that points the finger to people other than just Penn State officials. Nobody is talking about the Second Mile. Maybe they should be investigated. There is a can of worms to be opened and if it is, this will shake the country. It is big. Maybe this is why a lot of Penn State people do not want to let it go. I believe if this was blown open, there would even be politicians of both parties that could be prosecuted.

Second Mile is currently being investigated by the Feds. We won't hear any details until they're done... unless they don't find anything, in which case we'll likely never hear anything.

Most people here suspect there was much more to the story than just Jerry Sandusky. The question is, will the Feds be able to find enough evidence after Second Mile has had so much time to destroy evidence? If there were any non-cash financial transactions to support any allegations then that will open the door ... we'll see.

I hope there were no other incidents other than those involving Sandusky. However, if there were, then I hope those involved get the same treatment as Jerry received.

Similarly, if these investigations reveal more ties and coverups involving PSU and their football program, then I trust that the NCAA will re-assess if the penalties contained in the consent decree are still in line with the sum of all violations.

Look at USC fball and Indiana bball.

Indiana was gutted. Their talent was gone, and they were awful. Their attendance was rock solid, and they are top 4 heading into this year. Now it's like nothing ever happened.

USC had similar scholarship penalties, and they could have won the NC last year, and may do it this year, and the sanctions aren't even over yet.

There's a reason these schools are considered blue bloods, and it's got nothing to do with their average records over a 5 year period. PSU is a Pennsylvania institution plain and simple.

You don't think top flight Penn talent will be fighting to be a part of the first recruiting class that gets to go to bowls for all 4 years, and be the guys who rebuild the program? Whatever group of players gets them back to a bowl game will be legends.

6 years from now they will probably be equal to us. And I think we'll be pretty good.
