Petar Majstorovic in the portal from Long Beach St

Hearing a return may be coming...

He would be an offensive upgrade on Soare. He rebounded fairly well in his year with us, and obviously got better against competition a level down from us.

Defensively, I remember him as blocking out well, doing well on the defensive boards, and having pretty good position. Not a rim protector, obviously, but if we have a starting center, and a different guy as a shot blocker specialist, then there's a place for Petar as an offensive 4/5 who won't really hurt you on defense.

Someone should have posted it in the right thread in the first place.

Id take him for a good price and depth piece. As long as it doesn't break the bank for the bigger fish Gerry is trying to catch. With everyone hitting the portal we will need bodies.

Petar should be a good bench piece for a high mid major that could turn into a really good starter the year after. Still needs an outside shot but his highlights show a pretty good flow to his game

I believe there is some benefit to having multiple players from the same foreign region. Arent he and 3M both Bosnian?
No. Petar is from Serbia and 3M from Slovenia. The countries are fairly close (about a 4.5 hou drive, mostly through Croatia) but I suspect they do not get along well.

I am not a geography major but I think these countries were all once part of Yugoslavia. Pretty sure the West grouped a bunch of ethnic groups together as one country that hated each other and it didn;t work long term.

As an aside, Marek is from Slovakia, which was once part of Czechoslovakia. It is about 7 hours drive from Slovenia to Slovakia. This concludes this very Eastern Europe oriented geography post.

I suspect given their age it’s not an issue anymore. If they grew up in the 80s or 90s potentially a different story.

Slovenia wasn't a major combatant in the Yugoslav Wars. They secured their independence in the early 90's while Serbia fought a series of much larger conflicts throughout the decade. Adding a Bosnian or Croat to the roster might just do it though. Can never be too careful with Slavic roster construction.

Maybe the GF aspect changes things, but would generally assume he doesn't transfer for more playing time to then come right back without having a clear role off the bench.
