Unless it’s changed, I don’t think players on student visas can earn money, at least not directly.
exactly

plus in this environment of constant roster flux, the school should actively dissuade redshirts as much as possible given there is a good chance the player will transfer anyway

Educate me, anyone:
Since NIL isn’t from schools, and comes from private individuals, companies, collectives… how is it regulated? If an independent/not school-affiliated person gave an already professional athlete a bag in Europe, before he officially enrolled or signed with a school, but it was with the ‘unspoken understanding’ (wink/nod) that he’d sign with a school… how would anyone know or be able to prove it?

I hope they don't red shirt him. I obviously hope McLeod doesn't get hurt...but I feel like the chances McLeod misses some time this year due to some type of injury is decently high. We need bodies. Especially in the transfer portal age, mine as well keep him playable.

It’s a student visa thing, not NIL. They are here to go to school, not work. Work visas are a whole other thing.
There must be work around through parents ( see Edwards, Jesse), I just have no idea what it is.

My mother could steal minutes from McLeod.

I feel so much better about this roster now.
We have enough guys.
An injury won't be the end of the world.
We have a lot of flexibility and lots of pieces on this roster.

Also - we won’t have to play against teams focused on simply getting our one big in foul trouble to change the game. We can play more straight up and other teams the same and will force others to have to make adjustments to deal with unfavorable matchups Red can create. I’d say the roster is pretty balanced now between front court and backcourt.

Yes. Adding Lucas and Petar gives the team real depth at positions with injury concerns.

Agreed -- depth will be substantially improved compared to last year. We'll also be an older, more experienced group than last year's team.

Depth chart could look something like:

PG -- Carlos
-- No real proven commodity at PG behind him, but Cuffe / JJ / Westry could all chip in

SG -- JJ, who could be the team's offensive focal point
-- lots of depth, with transfer Taylor, incoming frosh Moore, and even potentially Westry / Cuffe

SF -- Bell
-- Westry, maybe Moore / Taylor

PF -- Freeman, who projects as a one-and-done
-- Jayre Davis, who was the top player at Delaware, with Majstorovic being able to play here as well

C -- Lampkin
-- Backed up by MacLeod, who is hopefully past the foot issue that significantly impacted his mobility
-- Majstorovic, who has really, really, really good post moves / footwork
