That can still be true while you also don’t spend a million on this kid. Plenty of money doesn’t mean to spend irresponsibly. Louisville after their huge adds and wanting one more is now striking out on the guys to fill out the roster

I think a good comparison for him would be Otis Hill. I'd sign up for that

Oh hell now. Hill was very foul prone and couldn't move like Folefac. I'm no Siena know it all, but I have watched a number of their condensed games. Folefac moves his feet and stays in front of even point guards. He's a really, really good defensive player. He also bodies up when a post player is backing him down - like a mini Sanogo from UConn. People don't back him down. Hill held his own too in terms of not getting backed down, but otherwise, I just don't see the comp. Folefac has superior footwork, compared to Hill.

Nobody here truly knows the market. Gerry knows the player. He understands what he brings and how he would fit. I think getting to the tournament next year has a much bigger ROI for NIL next year than saving a couple hundred thousand dollars

If they have the money.

They might want to sign up to 3 more players [of which Folefac could be one]. Not sure how much $$$ they have left, or how much they'd want to overpay with potentially two open starting spots still to fill.

Interestingly enough if 800k is already being posted on our boards clearly he still open to Syracuse negotiating.

If he was taking the 800k we’d be reading a Thamel post about him committing to GTech right now.

Seems the balls in GMacs court now. I tend to think that we could come up a little, who knows add 100k to our initial offer and say hey it’s been fun do what you gotta do for your family Francis. Who knows an investment this year may help keep him here his Jr year cuz Gmac gave him chance.

If you were Folefac would you sign with Syracuse? I would look elsewhere. Having two guys who can only play the 4 will not work out well for one of them. I get betting on yourself but if GT is really offering over 750k and an easy path to playing time it seems like a great deal.

It will be an issue for 90 pct of the programs in the P5 to figure out every year. You just have to find the right staff and right formula to win and find a way to keep that momentum to increase funding and attract more talent year in year out.

Even the wealthy programs are challenged. Louisville might get 3 top 15 guys total. Then they have to fill the roster which is already looking more difficult .

I don’t think people realize how much the bottom half of the ACC is struggling in the portal. They’re either getting sniped or just have to wait for prices to cool down. Or they have new coaches that hardly know the program they are now in charge of.

It’s easy to point to the top handful of teams that crushed a top portal target but most teams are just lost.

And imagine being a midmajor ha. Nitemare for them. Take Siena could be another 20 years until they get back to the tourney again and that cycle is repeating everywhere.

I gotta give gmac credit for bringing in a balanced crew and getting after it right out of the gate.
