Class of 2025 PF Francis Folefac (MD) Portal from Siena

Tbh give me bouncy athletic William Kyle like bigs over a plodding seven footer
Kyle was my favorite player this year for several reasons. High motor, highlight reel dunks, great effort. But the fact remains that he was bullied in the low post by plodding seven footers from mid major schools, not to mention ACC competition. When teams had really good centers like SMU and North Carolina, it wasn’t even close. Being a shot blocker is not necessarily the same as being a rim protector.

Kyle was good against some of the competition, a different style of center would have been better against others like SMU or Carolina.

This is a very good point that i accept (betterly)

Personally i’d like to see an up tempo style that gets up and down so quickly and kind of big like you’ve described becomes negated by virtue of not being able to keep up with the pace and when they do are too gassed to be fully effective

While it’s fun to watch the borderline gimmicky push the ball at all costs approach has its limits to me. When you do it with a team full of draft picks it looks amazing and fun but it can be hard to watch against top competition otherwise. Michigan plays fast with major talent but has the big man downlow to work inside out in the half court as well. If you want to win as many games as possible you need to be able to adjust and push at times to get an advantage or play the half court if you have a better advantage slowing the opponent down and controlling things.

I want a big who in a key FT moment won't get pushed under the tin and out of the play like Trayce Jackson Davis did to Benny. It could have been any of our bigs recently - we need strength.
That play was probably more about Benny not paying attention or even anticipating that Davis would go all out to make a play like that. Never thought about before you mentioned it, but that play was probably illustrative of the impact that a lack of BBIQ and hustle have on talent.

My uneducated guess is the combo of $ guarantee and mins is something that he hasn't found yet. I could see him circling back to Syracuse as a backup option (for both sides really).

Hopefully the connection that Folefac has with Jerry and his other Siena mates that are transferring to SU will be enough for the commitment. Who knows how JMAC has communicated to him about his role at SU. At the very least I would think he'll see rotation minutes at the 4 and maybe get some time at the other forward spot or Center. If he's truly made a sophomore jump in his game, JMac will find ways to reward him with more minutes. I can't speak to NIL issues that could weigh heavily on his decision.

It's GMAC. Gerry, with a G.

Who is jmac?

This seems to be dragging on

Agreed.

The portal [which is out and out free agency at this point] is a two-way street. Teams have to be willing to pay, and you have to find a place that offers the role you are seeking. Sometimes you can find that role, but at a lower level than you'd prefer, or not for the money you'd prefer. Or a team might offer you the money, but the path to PT isn't as clear as you'd prefer.

I think that's where Folefac is at this point. Coming off that big Duke performance, he was looking for a P4 starting role with big $$$. Not sure that any of that manifested for him -- maybe some teams [Georgia Tech for example] didn't offer the money he was looking for, but offered the opportunity to start. Or Syracuse offered the money, but not the path to the starting lineup Folefac was looking for.

Hope he ends up here in the end.
