Class of 2025 PF Francis Folefac (MD) Portal from Siena

I think he’s just waiting until the last day. Wanting to see if there are any last minute suitors. Meanwhile this squad is on standby if he commits somewhere else.

Why do I keep bother reading this thread ? It's gone off the rails lol. Is it too much to ask for an update on FF. Maybe the next update will be on JD, Chucker Rob Drummond and Scott Schwedes lol
Yeah, I don’t think many people refer to Rob as that anymore. Yikes.

It's interesting that you bring up WWII. I googled his wiki page and Gerhard grew up in Germany during the war and his father was a German Army officer. I bet he has some interesting stories to tell. And hopefully someone interviews him, if they haven't already, before it's too late.

My Grandfather fought in the Argonne forest in France vs.the Germans in the First World War. He received a Purple Heart, but many of his battalion and company mates were killed. I always regret that I never asked him about his war experience.

My grandfather also fought in WWI. I am pretty sure he had severe PTSD. As a little kid when we went to visit, we were not allowed to make any noise (6 kids 4-11 years old), had to sit quietly in a room with heavy velvet curtains and one little table lamp. As I look back, he was a very broken man.

It was called Shell Shock back then. Brutal war!

But a hero. There was an great movie by Peter Jackson, They Shall Not Grow Old. .

Peter Jackson directed and produced the 2018 documentary They Shall Not Grow Old, a groundbreaking film commemorating the WWI centenary using restored, colorized, and 3D-enhanced archival footage from the Imperial War Museum. The film, which highlights the humanity of British soldiers, uses audio from veterans' interviews, purposely omitting narrator commentary.

Key Aspects of "They Shall Not Grow Old"
  • Restoration Process: Jackson worked with over 100 hours of original film footage and 600 hours of audio interviews from the BBC and IWM archives to create a 99-minute film (with an extended 129-minute cut).
  • Technology Used:The footage was colorized, restored, and converted to 3D to bring a sense of realism and immediacy, removing the "jerky" motion typical of early film
    .
    • Focus on Humanity: The film emphasizes the everyday lives, humor, and suffering of the soldiers in the trenches rather than specific strategic battles.
    • Personal Connection: Jackson dedicated the film to his grandfather, who served in the British army.
    • Release & Reception: Premiered at the 2018 London Film Festival, the film received critical acclaim for its technical achievement and emotional impact
