Class of 2025 PF Francis Folefac (MD) TRANSFERRING TO SYRACUSE (4/27/26)

He put up 2 points and 3 rebounds in 18 minutes against Vermont, while we're looking at small sample sizes.
FYI, that was also the last game that Folefac came off the bench as Goodrick got injured. After all the injuries, and Gerry could see who his healthy players were, the team, and Folefac, played much better the last half or third of the season.

As a freshman, Folefac was so much more effective at the end of the season as opposed to the beginning of the season as his minutes and his role increased.

It was as different as night and day.

He was never supposed to see significant time against Vermont or the immediate game after which was Indiana because he was a relatively untried freshman.
Goodrick injured his knee in the Vermont game and was out for the rest of the year,
and his backup Mulvey got a concussion in the Vermont game and was out for about six weeks. Gerry had to suddenly redo the game plan once he lost both his big men in the same game. Suddenly Chandler and Folefac started to play starters minutes.
And all of this happened in late December.

All I'm saying is he had some good games last year, and he had some really bad games last year. He's a good depth piece.
It shouldn't be controversial to acknowledge that until the Siena guys lace 'em up and show that they're ACC players and not MAAC players on a game by game basis, there is an amount of risk greater than zero that expectations for them are too high, collectively.

Great minds think alike 😀

So far, I haven't seen any predictions of top 25 and have barely seen predictions of being a bubble team.

I think most expectations are somewhat tempered as far as wins and losses, but the biggest expectation being that the Siena guys will help change the culture through hustle and leadership.

That would normally be reasonable. But, if we don't make the tournament this year, there is a greater than non-zero chance (borrowed from OiG) that NIL donations and fan support will dry up. I hope we can avoid our annual gradual lowering of expectations.

Here's hoping, because it's unlikely things are changing because we find ourselves with a roster loaded with NBA talent.

Thank you.
All of us just want a good team next year.
I am the first one to admit I have rose colored glasses on regarding Doty and Folefac,
I watched a lot of their games last year and really enjoyed and respected what I saw.
Been a fan since Roy’s Runts watching the games as a kid with my dad.
Just truly feel some real honest to goodness hope,😊
It has been a really long time I have felt that way.
And for the right reasons, ty

I’ll clear up some of my comments, because I guess they are a hit.

Doty had multiple high high major suitors well before the season was over. Is he getting a lot of money from us? Yes. But, he didn’t engage in the bidding game like so many do and stayed loyal to Gerry, committing immediately.

Francis it sounds like from my very good sources was a similar situation, although I can’t speak entirely on that.

Either way, two dudes who are coming in with experience with Gerry + ceilings to grow + not expected the world to be handed to them is a great thing for our program.

No. That's not what you've said. You've been diminishing him since the start. Give it a rest.

He isn't being brought in to start. White is starting. Period.

He's going to be the 8th-9th-10th player on the team. That's fine. Maybe he develops into something better. You don't know that and I don't know that.

I would be much more concerned about Tobiason and his propensity for poor games given the fact that the program clearly has signed him to be a big piece. He went 1-for-12 against Tulane and had 8 points against UC San Diego. Can't afford those types of games from him.

For being optimistic that things are heading into a direction of positive progress? I don’t expect a program major leap in year 1, improvement of overall recording and conferences positioning, yes, if a major leap happens, great! I’m looking at, are moves being made to build the foundation to this program to build a successful program that will really take off in the 2nd or 3rd year and the answer to that in a month in is a yes.

Who said I was being negative? That is what I am talking about, being off the deep end. You all need to calm down and stop instantly attacking people.

I said this board has gone off the deep end? Two instant responses "FOR WHAT BEING POSITIVE" Like, what are you even talking about? Who said I was talking about the people being positive? Who said I was talking about the people being negative? That is what I mean, both sides have gone crazy and made the board insufferable.

All I can say about this is at least he showed up to play his balls off in March.

This year the only decent win we pulled off all season was against Tennessee. George terrible, JJ inefficient, Donnie injured. Kingz and Sadiq carried us not our highly paid talent.

Point being George, Donnie, and JJ were the same players in November as they were in March.

No one is denying that the Siena boys had the games of their lives against Duke. We all know they can’t replicate that a whole season but if they can pull off that level of play 2-3 times next year preferably on the road against solid teams that’s enough with the net to make the tourney especially with expansion.

You made an ambiguously accusatory post, and you are surprised at those reactions?
