i think an argument could be made that it would be more difficult to fully exploit those contacts, living on the other side of the country.
Well absolutely, undoubtedly a factor. But as long as you’re still having success, keep recruiting it hard if it makes sense. And ALWAYS maintain relationships.

Upstate hasn't always had this many good recruits. It goes in cycles. Eventually Hop won't have anyone else here to go after. His pipeline will dry up.

True and not true.

As long as the HS and AAU coaches out here or anywhere that he has built good relationships with remain, he will always have a shot at getting a kid out of those programs. Maybe not he best shot, but he'll have a shot at east coast kids for a long time.

shot

People won’t want to hear this, but the fact we were in this to the end was somewhat surprising.

The one thing people assumed was in our favor (closeness to family), was a substantial impediment.

Some kids just want to get away.
What do you make of him not mentioning Cuse at all in his above quotes. You still think we were a very close 2nd? Just wondering here ...

i don't think anyone denies he will continue to use his contacts. i think the comment is lets wait and see if he continues to have the success hes had. although stewart really is the prize. i don't think our coaches were overly high on Nazir carter. ham wright was probably a take.

To play in a bastardized version of Syracuse's style in a substantially worse league. If you want to get away, go to Izzo. That I can understand.

"Major factor," he said about Hopkins. "I’m a relationship guy. At the end of the day the head coach Is calling the shots and for me to have that type of relationship with the head coach is the best for me."

Stewart said he’s coming for McDaniels. Hop could be loaded. Potentially adding three, five star recruits.

Here's next year's lineup:
Carey
Boeheim
Brissett
Dolejaz
Sidibe

Then we got:
Goodine
Guerrier
Girard
Ajak

I'm down with this

It’s funny how some people are back to whining about not getting him. People had accepted it months ago. But since that MSU guy said SU it got people’s hopes up a little, so now we’re back to pissing and moaning about not getting him.

Bummer...its definitely not on the assistant coaches... so now wahab gets to leave us standing at the alter on the 30th.

Bummer. I wanted him, actually thought he was going to go Orange. Seems like a pretty decent kid too. Probably one year but would have fit in here beautifully.
SU needs another big.

Right. He said straight up “I’m a relationship guy.” Not everybody values the same things.

If he’s good enough, he’s going to the league regardless. Washington hasn’t won a lot but they’ve had their share of NBA players.
Nothing drives me crazier in recruiting when people think they know what a kid values or wants.
