PFF grades vs Miami

there was series in the red zone that on 1st down we threw a fade the meeks on 29 that was just out of reach... and the very next play we put Gadsden out there against 29 and i thought FOR sure we were throwing the fade again... but we ran to Laquint for like 2 yards...

and then ran the fade to meeks again and they called the DPI... however i dont recall if it was on 29 or a diff guy.

The DPI was on 29. He was bad our game but the talk is he might be on the freshman AA team.

I thought the line played better than the grades show. Kyle had time and we could run.

Kyle did have time and the OL did pretty darn well pass blocking. The grades reflect that. I don’t think we ever have 3 guys grade very good. Our run blocking was blah. Hit a couple plays but even Allen’s longer runs he broke to the outside after there were no holes.

Oh... and we should probably discuss the elephant in the room with my buddy, 29.

If he was playing in the Dome in Sept 1998 - He would have been ejected for the most egregious pants over the knees I have EVER seen.

Wohlabaugh and Spoon seem to have we reversed ratings. Spoon very good in pass blocking? Hmmm

He rotated back in. He and Spoon are both on pitch counts. DW got whipped twice.
As did Grant, who has improved his tackling and run fits a lot, but had no chance trying to check Restrepo.

Before you know it they'll just be wearing undies with jock straps.

We give up over 500 yards to Miami and we have Defensive players graded as 'very good'?!

MLB, Safety and another Safety in the honorable mention, they aren't going to get dinged as much in the pass game so long as they aren't in coverage

It’s amazing we were able to run out the clock with the OL run grades looking like that.

At least in the last drive they looked solid there.

Does the Big General have another season left?
Because we need a P4 starting quality C like nobody’s business for next year.
It looked to me that Miami was gassed at the end.

Those 4 very goods are for tackling only. Overall defense we had 1 player at good with everyone else average or worse including 3 starters who failed.

Miami marched up and down the field most of the game.

Miami marched up and down the field most of the game.

So did we vs. them.

Miami did that to pretty much everybody they played.

Playing “good” D against prolific O’s mostly comes down to making a handful of impactful plays to force a TO / punt / FG instead of allowing TD’s.

We did that.

The clear lack of pass rush is what kills our DBs.
We also had a lot of blown assignments. There was one situation early on where Miami receiver was running free -- at same time, we were doubling another guy and tripling the other.

On their TD to the guy in the slot, Baron and Wax missed assignments and both tried to cover the same guy too.

Lot to clean up in the secondary moving forward.
