We should get the best value for our money. Whether we overpay or underpay, the NIL money will be spent. Might as well spend it wisely. The only way we can compete with Duke, Louisville, etc. is to get more production for our money than they get for theirs (because they will outspend us every year).

But the result is what determines if the money was spent well.

Totally agree - we won't know if this is a good investment until the season gets going. All I am saying is that it could potentially be a very good investment.

Also, it certainly isn't a doomed investment, like George and Lampkin were (their flaws were easy to spot before they even set foot in the Dome).

Another good thing about Dual is.

He’s a good defender who is willing to put in effort on that end of the ball.

It’s very hard for a coach to teach a kid to try and play defense, let alone fundamentals.

McNamara is an analytics guy. If you look at his game against Duke, something like 90% of the shots came from either outside the three-point line or in the lane. The two players that he just added, Gavin Doty, and Dusl are each the highest ranked player for their respective teams, that both made the NCAA tournament on Evan Maya. And I bet he got each of them for a bargain. Both are team players and have good metrics

Because they all pretty much seem like bench guys so far.

Just a reminder - last year we signed the All ACC PG, and a guy who shot over 40% from three at Oregon State.

None of these guys so far are in that ballpark, at least on paper.

You know a lot about 3M? I don't care whether any of us know thse guys. Makes no difference to me. What I do care about is balance. And so far, we aren't balanced on offense. Well, maybe we are when you think, we don't have a low post scorer or any elite outside shooter other than 3M. I know how much money we had at the start, and I am starting to worry about that thing where someone said that Gerry wanted to save money for next year might be true. Insane if it is.

And honestly, we don't know if Mahmutovič is any better than Fennell. Fennell looked really good for the Australian junior national team.

This whole situation brings up an interesting issue - what to do when the "best available player" at a particular position isn't all that good or is barely better than the 10th best player. Do you pay the top guy anyway? I think that is crazy. Why not spread the money across your other players and upgrade the quality of your team at every position?

Let's keep in mind - the last two years were screwed because we way overpaid at the PG and C positions (George & Lampkin). If all we do is avoid that mistake, we get better.

Dual will have a bigger impact than Nait George. The advanced metrics on Dual are wayyy better. He’s also 6’5”.

I disagree I think they all are. I'm not saying they are elite Acc players but at least ACC level players. Even the big from Siena, is he flashy no? But he's got some size and a he's a good rebounder. Much more of an ACC ready player and will have more impact than someone like Souare

So far, the SienaCuse roster is not impressive. Gerry failed to keep Donnie, and Kingz sounds like he isn't getting his waiver.

Gerry's statement, "Hey, the cupboard's not bare, folks" is not looking too good right now. We're keeping 2 guys from last year's team, neither of whom was a starter.
