Class of 2023 PG Jalen Cox (CA) Portal from Colgate (Interest)

His stats are extremely good even against P4 opponents, I like his size his IQ. and his athleticism, The list of schools who are showing interest is very impressive. There is a clip of him hitting a half court buzzer beater beating ( SIENA ) on 11-17-2025 I feel our top priority is to bring in an impact PG.

He would be my 4th or 5th option. That said if we were looking at him and Dual as a legit combo it could work. I want our top options though.

The interested schools are impressive so maybe I'm missing something, but he's a small pg who doesn't shoot 3s (17 3s in 29 games last year), hasn't dunked in 2 years and didn't post a positive BPM until he was a junior in a low-major conference. This seems like an obvious pass now that we have the money to go after higher caliber players

I haven’t watched him play but 6’3” isn’t small for a PG.

6'3 is fine, but he weighs somewhere between 165-180 pounds depending on the source, which is very light. The bigger thing is that he took 140 shots at the rim without dunking and had a relatively low free throw rate, which are good proxies for athleticism and physicality

I am seeing 180# anywhere I look. I get your points about dunking and low free throw rate, but let's not act like this kid is small.
Cuse has done well historically with small and big PGs.
Just find the right dude.

I remember thinking this guy looked pretty good for a Colgate player when we played them.
That was my recollection as well. I remember him constantly blowing by our guys trying to guard him. In hindsight, it turned out that was really easy to do that year when playing us.

Looked up the box score and he led Colgate with 21 points, but took him 20 shots to get those points.

When he wants to play, he’s good. Unfortunately he’s not always locked in. I’d be ok with him as a backup PG.
