Literally no one wanted Carlos… completely different situation.

I have not compared him to Carlos once. I’m comparing the patterns in recruiting low major transfers. It’s what teams like Wake Forest, Georgia Tech, Florida State, etc have relied on and it’s failed. The teams that have succeeded in the transfer portal era haven’t generally followed this potential method that we are looking at here. That’s all I’m saying. And that part isn’t debatable in my opinion.

I can tell you right now Wilkinson is probably going to stay in the SEC.

I would love to be wrong. They are awesome kids.

But with 12m + available. We gotta go get some proven high major players. Go spend on Wilkinson, who was the best player on an 8 seed and scored 30 points in Buffalo @ NCAA Tournament. Think it’s worth it to drop 2.5 million on a kid like that.

Just with the position our program is in, I think it’s way too risky to put two guys from Colgate and Siena in our backcourt and hope that they punch above their expected weight this coming season.

Nowhere near any sort of panic mode. Long way to go. But a Cox, Doty backcourt is bottom tier ACC. Great mid-major players and good kids from what I hear, but that backcourt is no better than anything we had in 24-25.

around 1.5 million if i had to guess. he’s a top 100 portal guy and 17 ppg scorer. A lot less than the Wilkinson’s and Wilkins’ of the world but good bang for your buck.

Virginia added Dallin Hall who started at PG for a second weekend BYU team. They added Ugonna Onyenso from Kentucky. They spent arguably the most money on any international player in Johann Grunloh (who was a projected first round pick). Malik Thomas was the leading scorer in a conference that included Gonzaga and St. Mary’s. Chance Mallory was a top 60 recruit in the country.

Not even remotely comparable.

I’ve heard Kansas and St. John’s for him. Pitino is targeting the Arizona State big and Cincinnati big though. Najai is probably a fall back guy there. Kansas just needs bodies, their whole team left lol

He is… at Colgate, and potentially in a differing role here. But you can’t put these kids in the same situations as the low major that they came from and expect the same levels of success.

If we add Cox + a Dallin Hall type of player I’m ecstatic and agree that we are trending right where we need to be. But Cox alone? Def room for concern.
