Class of 2025 PG Keyshuan Tillery (Albany/ NH) Portal from Cinci

Tillery + Dual would open up more funds for big splashes at other positions I'm guessing. It's more of the "let's hope one of them pans out as the starter" option.

I can at least get on board with that if we landed a slam dunk at either 2/3/4 and a center.

However, if every single player we bring in is eliciting the reaction of "not sure this guy is a starter", we're in trouble.

I think SU will sign at least one high profile player. Building a roster in the meantime would certainly make it an easier sell.

Yeah I agree with this. I want a proven lead guard but taking two swings gives you a better chance of one panning out than just one. If I hear “this guy is gonna ascend at Syracuse” or something similar one more time my ears may explode. The way people talk in absolutes-negative or positive, is INSANE. End of the day none of us truly know jackssh_t

Reminder, We can only start 5 guys on any given day. Remember that 6th man we had, called DIon, who was a first round draft pick and played 8 years in the NBA? And he didn't start. Better example is someone has to be player #7, 8, 9 ...They will be coming in through the portal most likely.
I would like to respectfully say that I hate this. : )

One guy in 50 years should not be so often and heavily leaned into as a standard or rule. I don’t know how effective it could be, as a rationale or recruiting appeal to a player. They want to start, despite Dion, a guy they may still never have heard of, regardless of his NBA career.

Sorry, Ilandz—this has just been a bug stuck in my craw for many years!

I think my point was not every player we are going to get to build this team is going to be a starter. I am not saying we should sell them on a 6th man story, but they also have to know they have decisions to make. A possibility to make a mark on a P4/5 team or forever a mid major player. GMac can't be telling all 7-8 guys that they will be starters. The goal is to bring in those bench players who might end up being more than we think they will be. We are banking on GMac to pull the most out of his players possible.
