Unless it is a silent verbal, he hasn't been recruited over. There is a current freshman point guard, Myles Herro, who was highly rated already on campus. But Johnson was only one of three recruits coming into Ohio State's class next year, and the only point guard.
At least one site thinks he was poached with a high NIL deal, though that was conjecture without evidence type of claim (homers going to be shocked a kid decided not to go to their school? <surprise face>)
Another possibility is the Marcus Johnson had peaked as a sophomore in high school. He committed to Ohio State two years ago as a 5 star, now he is a 4 star ranked 28th.
But the gnashing of teeth from Ohio State journalist homers seems to indicate this isn't him being walked to the door.
