I am probably a fool, but I expect JJ to be a different player next year. I believe he can fix his shot. He had better form in high school. I think he can improve that by shooting a TON of shots this summer. Also, he needs to work on his left hand. And, obviously defense. That sounds like a lot, because it is. But, this is his last shot. He has the ability, he just has to work his butt off.
He has absolutely no excuses. We got him a PG, Soph Freeman, a 3 pt shooter, a center who can help defend...He has to pull off his end

OMG! THE STAFF OUT HERE MAKING MOVES!

I'm not trying to hate I like Kingz a lot I just believe this guy is middling
I was just joking. I understand your opinion and you are entitled to it. I am going to watch some Claude this evening, but I really like what George brings to the table. I am not a huge analytics guy, I understand their value, but I know what a point guard looks like, and Nait George is a true point guard and I think he is going to help us tremendously. Think about the old "coach on the floor" saying. Well, when you lack a coach on the sidelines, a coach on the floor is a step in the right direction.

I like that he does a little bit of everything. Stuffs the stat sheet. If you look at the last 5 championship pg’s only two of them shot over 35% from 3. I want a PG that is going to lead the team. Get them in the right spots. Make the right decisions.

I also like his size.

Shooting just about 34% from 3 is not bad and you only expect it to keep improving.

However, 39% overall from the field last year is very concerning. Not efficient at all.
The 3 point shooting is okay; higher is always better obviously but 34% is good enough for it to be a decent shot. 39% from the field is rough though; just doesn't seem to be a very good finisher in the paint (and doesn't pass the eye test in that regard either IMO). It feels to me like Red is trying to build a team around athletic forwards/bigs this year and George is the kind of passer that should complement that very well.

If George can get a little better at the rim or make the floater a real weapon, it would go a very long ways. I think he'll be effective at least in the regular season but if god forbid we actually find ourselves back in the tournament again and teams are able to scout us more, it'll probably make sense defensively to stay home on the shooters/lob threats and just dare George to score and see what happens.

I digress though; after the last few years I would freaking love to have to worry about how teams will defend us in the tournament lol.

He needs a private shooting coach since we don’t have McNamara around. Either Cuse pays for that or JJ invests in himself with some of his NIL Money.

Looks like a solid get. Had big games against Clemson and Louisville. Like his passing ability and durability, and that he can help on the glass and occasionally get his own bucket. Don't love the 21.8% TO rate, which was only slightly lower than Carlos's last year, but I think some of that can be attributed to lack of chemistry as GT had injuries all year and he had to carry a big load.

Would like a lockdown wing/3-D type and a starting-caliber C to play in front of Kyle. At some point we may need a midmajor transfer success story but I like the approach thus far.

The foul shooting gives me hope he can shoot better. Georgia Tech didn’t really have a lot of options.

He did have some games he went 5-8, 5-9, 3-6, and 4-10 from 3.

Being in the tournament again and worrying about out how our guys match up would be a good problem to have considering the last 4 seasons.

I just watched his video. I think he has really nice form on his trey shooting. Of course the vid only shows the makes, so maybe he just didnt have great shot selection on the misses ?????

The other thing with the vid is that it showed he can pass the OOP (Kyle should love that), but there was really nothing shown about just running the O and setting up shooters. Hopefully the assist stat speaks for itself in that regard.

Finally, a real point guard.

Now, just have to hope he has an offensive system to run. Still have to see the coaching do their part.

Roster is rounding into shape and could push for a tourney bid. I still think we need a C and another , preferably one that can shoot. Shooting could still be a sore spot.

I also hope we can be better defensively. Still not convinced with JJ, Donnie and maybe an undersized Kingz at G/ we can do enough on that end - have to see what else can be brought in.

This is certainly a nice surprise and very welcome addition.
